Flower children, welcome back for another installment in our FLOWER EDUCATION series! Today Rebecca Dawn Design and I couldn’t be more excited to share this Blushing Spring Arrangement with you — it’s sweet, fragrant and right on trend for Spring 2017 (nope, I’m not even close to being done with the Spring 2017 Pantone Fashion Color Report!). Although I love each of the arrangements and bouquets Rebecca and I create, I have to say — this one is my all time favourite!
Blush tones are a huge trend this spring and its been so much fun translating seasonal colour inspiration across categories. This season, blush, peach and neutral tones have been present in my BEAUTY content and I can’t stop wearing blush inspired neutrals at the moment (they’ll be popping up in my next FASHION post!). Not only are blush and neutral toned blooms perfectly on trend, but the exquisite variety of shades that mother natures provides for us each spring is truly nothing short of amazing. Embrace the season with us today as we chat about our favourite spring blooms and flowering branches in this Blushing Spring Arrangement — including dreamy, oversized Japanese Ranunculus, standard Ranunculus, Quicksand Roses, Lisianthus, Hyacinths and fragrant Magnolia branches hailing from Canada’s west coast! Rebecca also shares her expert flowering branch foraging and care tips to inspire you to enjoy the beauty of the season in your home this spring.
Sometimes I think it’s important to look for recipe inspiration in new places. As you’ve probably noticed, I’ve been on a bit of a beet kick (and a pink kick) lately — so today’s fresh juice recipe is inspired by pink hues! This juice is totally different than what I would usually make — and it’s all because I combined ingredients for colour first, and flavour second. My Blushing Beet Juice incorporates seasonal produce like beets, oranges and grapefruit with ingredients that I don’t normally juice, like strawberries (which have been looking particularly delicious lately, even though they’re not in season). The result is a perfectly sweet, balanced pink juice, packed full of amazing, heart healthy ingredients. Enjoy this vibrant pink juice for love month — the recipe makes enough for two generous servings, and you can also freeze it to make your own popsicles (kids love them!). Have some fun in the kitchen this February and shake up your juicing menu! Continue Reading
Well hello, beautiful souls! It’s been a minute, hasn’t it?! Not to worry — I’m back today with another Monthly Beauty Favourites post! The first part of September has been very busy with client work, so this post is coming to you a little late. That said, it’s packed full of some great new beauty finds and rediscovered products across eye, cheek, lip, complexion and nail categories, so I hope it was worth the wait. I’m definitely starting to transition into more autumnal makeup but have been enjoying lighter, fresher lip colours — so I guess we have a little bit of a summer-meets-fall vibe happening again today (there’s definitely a theme here at JustineCelina this month!).
Settle in on this crisp, late summer evening and let’s chat about everything I’ve loved putting on my face (and nails) lately! My August 2017 Beauty Favourites including the ultimate warm eyeshadow lovers dream palette, a natural, neutral lip liner that goes with everything, a luxurious, extremely unique lip cream, a fantastic lipstick for everyday wear as we transition into fall, the most heavenly drugstore bronzer I’ve ever worn, the perfect rosy blush in one of my all time favourite formulas and a decadent berry polish with nail helping, healthy ingredients (it’s infused with kale!). If you’re looking to incorporate a touch of autumn into your beauty routine, I have so many fantastic recommendations for you today!
Flower loving friends, the first month of autumn is upon us — and we’re easing into it slowly here at JustineCelina with September 2017’s Free Desktop Wallpapers! This month, Rebecca Dawn Design and I were inspired by the PANTONE Fall 2017 Fashion Color Report for September’s DIGITAL BLOOMS (yes, we’re back on those Pantone Colour Reports again… expect to become very familiar with this one over the next few months and I work with this palette across categories!). This month’s free floral wallpapers are a little bit summer and a little bit fall, just like this gorgeous month — I think they’re my favourite set yet!
September has us lusting after Pantone’s Ballet Slipper, Butterum, Autumn Maple, Golden Lime, Tawny Port and Neutral Grey — I’m crazy about those deep tones and warm neutrals accent by pops of blush and grey to keep things light and airy as we transition into Autumn 2017. If you’re ready to embrace the seasonal change and a brand new colour story on the background of your computer, tablet or phone, click through to download September’s Digital blooms! We’re curated a lovely collection of fresh flowers, foliage and berries — including Quicksand and Mother of Pearl Roses (learn more about them here), Tinted Solidago, Angel Wings Begonia leaves, Larkspur, Poppy Pods, Hypericum, Sweet Peas and Ranunulus (other than being one of our favourite flowers, did you know they’re in season almost year round?). Oh, and if you’re new around here (welcome!) — yes, they really are absolutely free!
I’m strutting into September with fresh SUMMER TO AUTUMN 2017 TREND GUIDE for this transitional time of year! Today I’m sharing a versatile look that I’ve worn many times this summer in both personal and professional settings — and I’m also showing you how to style it into the first days of autumn. I’m planning to enjoy summer for as long as I possibly can — the weather is exceptionally beautiful here in Calgary (there was actually a heat warning on the day we shot this post and it was 34 °C!) and therefore I’m going to utilize every possible opportunity to wear sandals and open toed shoes (Canadian girls, I know you feel me)!
In this pre-fall TREND GUIDE, I’m merging a handful of key trends from Summer / Autumn 2017 — including orange, butterum, eyelet, embroidery, cork and natural textured accessories, bright whites, strappy sandals and tailored, wide leg trousers. I’m finally showing off my birthday present here at JustineCelina (to myself, from myself!) — the absolutely stunning, Gaia’s Ark Bamboo Clutch (which has been on heavy rotation in my summer wardrobe but hasn’t yet made it to the blog!). I’m also sharing autumn styling options by simply changing up my accessories to include an office appropriate, daytime bag that doubles as a briefcase, gorgeous tasseled pumps a classic watch! And last but not least, it’s that time of year again — today I’m introducing you to the PANTONE Fall 2017 Fashion Color Report and chatting about how you can incorporate fall colour trends into your wardrobe right now to extend the life of your favourite summer pieces as we transition into autumn. If you’re not quite sure what to wear during this time of year, hang out with me today for some fresh ideas and outfit inspiration as I style this colourful look for both seasons!
To say I went poke crazy in Vancouver this spring would be a major understatement. Typically, I don’t eat meat very often (I’m actually not vegan, although I eat that way about 90% of the time and have included a vegan option in this recipe) — but anytime I travel, I love to immerse myself in local cuisine. It’s such a treat to be able to indulge in fresh seafood on the coast! After making one too many poke runs when I landed back home in Alberta, I decided to take matters into my own hands and develop a recipe for the ultimate gluten and dairy free poke bowls at home! My Ahi Tuna Poke Bowls with Citrus Ponzu & Sriracha Aioli are an explosion of traditional Japanese flavours infused with a west coast vibe and all the fixings — a mashup of sustainable, sashimi grade ahi tuna, avocado, carrot, cucumber, mango and grilled asparagus adorn a bed of organic brown rice and tender greens, topped with a scratch made, Gluten Free Citrus Ponzu, drizzled with Sriracha Garlic Aioli and garnished with roasted sesame seeds, nori and scallions. They’re even better than the poke bowls I fell in love with by the sea!
I’ve partnered with Inspired Greens to bring you a lightened up version of the classic poke bowl where I’ve used a blend of Inspired Greens MultiLeaf Trio and organic brown rice as the Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl base. If you follow along with my adventures over on Instagram, you may remember their beautiful bouquet of Alberta grown living lettuce from earlier this summer — and as someone who’s passionate about local, plant based eats, I’m elated to continue working Inspired Greens and officially introduce you here at JustineCelina. Their greens add a fresh, flourishing texture and gourmet flair to these summer friendly poke bowls — they’re also a breeze to work with, helping to reduce meal prep time!
If you follow along with my Insta Stories, you’ve likely seen me sipping away on my fair share of iced matcha lattes this summer! As someone who works from home most of the time, I’ve concocted quite a few homemade latte recipes over the years — but since they’re so simple I always thought they weren’t worth sharing here at JustineCelina. When I snapped a quick photo of my afternoon Iced Coconut Ginger Matcha Latte a few weeks ago, I was totally surprised by the response (who knew my most requested recipe to date would be a homemade latte?). Well — ask and you shall receive, my friends! If you have 5 minutes and 5 ingredients, you too can enjoy these refreshing iced lattes in the comfort of your own home.
Today I’m thrilled to be partnering with Kiwami Greens (a plant based, nutrient-rich Japanese vegetable powder) to bring you my Iced Coconut Ginger Matcha Latte — a tea latte infused with superfood ingredients to power your day with clean energy. Although delicious, traditional matcha lattes can be time consuming to prepare and require special tools, but my Iced Coconut Ginger Matcha Lattes truly couldn’t be easier. I believe you can nourish yourself and treat yourself at the same time — and this powerhouse matcha latte is a healthy indulgence you can feel great about. Creamy coconut milk, fresh ginger, exotic coconut nectar and filtered water combine over ice with Kiwami Greens — a smooth, rich blend of meticulously selected Japanese vegetables, green tea and prebiotics. I’ve been enjoying variations of this Iced Coconut Ginger Matcha Latte almost daily for the past few weeks and I’m thrilled to be sharing it with you! Continue Reading
