If you’re a beauty lover looking for some reading material this long weekend, you’re in luck — it’s August Beauty Favourites time! August was a very experimental month for me beauty-wise because I purged and reorganized my entire makeup collection. Having been a beauty lover for many years before I started blogging I’ve accumulated quite the stash, which has grown exponentially this past year and a half since starting JustineCelina! I’m finding the need to reevaluate what I’m using and loving more often and also determining which products could find a better home. So, I packed up tons of goodies for friends and family and also donated some makeup to a local women’s shelter.
In my reorganizing, I set aside products that hadn’t seen much love recently and experimented with them in August — so I was a bit all over the place in terms of what I used each time I did my makeup. My August Beauty Favourites are a mixture of tried and true products in new colours, along with some brand new ones! Stay tuned for a beautiful, warm red liquid lipstick, a fantastic loose setting powder, some subtly colourful smoky eyeshadows, an inexpensive cream to powder highlighter and a heavenly scented dry shampoo from the drugstore! After 10 days of rain and some crazy storms here in Alberta, I took full advantage of a few brief days of sunshine earlier this week. Today I’m chatting about carefree summer style and my favourite easy pieces to wear on hot summer days. You know, those simple ‘one and done’ pieces that practically style themselves — you can just throw them on and go? That’s what today’s post is all about! I’m also sharing some great accessories to add interest to easy summer outfits along with my go-to pair of oversized shades. Come adventure to the beautiful canola fields right behind my family’s acreage in rural Alberta and enjoy some virtual Vitamin D!
With the Calgary Stampede currently underway I thought it would be the perfect time for another installment in my WHAT TO WEAR TO series! Today I’m chatting about what I’m wearing this year and sharing my love for great vintage and authentic western style with a bohemian influence. If you don’t live near Calgary, let me fill you in — the Calgary Stampede is a 10 day outdoor festival referred to as The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, celebrating the culture of the wild wild west. It’s also one big excuse for the city to shut down and party, which I have to say Calgarians do quite well! And while my crazy stampeding days are long behind me, there are some fantastic Stampede events and parties (not to mention excellent networking) that takes place during these 10 days — and I like to look the part! I think there’s an opportunity to dress really well at the Calgary Stampede and embrace the roots of traditional western style.
This post is also a collaboration with the lovely Dawn Bradley Hair who I worked with to create this gorgeous bohemian hairstyle. If you’re looking for some textured, braided, perfectly undone hair inspiration, Dawn breaks down how to achieve the style in 10 easy steps!
What better way to welcome a new month than with some new beauty goodies? My June 2016 Beauty Favourites is a comprehensive review of what I’ve been loving in the beauty department lately — so grab a snack or cup of tea and get comfy! This month I’m chatting about some exciting new brands and products launching at Canadian London Drugs stores, a full coverage, high end foundation, some gorgeous pink lip products, a fantastic drugstore contouring and highlighting kit, a flexible hold hairspray that gives me tons of volume and a gorgeous, universally flattering foiled eyeshadow from Makeup Geek! I was splitting my time last month between my home in Calgary and my childhood home in rural Alberta, so I’ve really been able to get a handle on some new products that I packed in my makeup bag to test out. Stay tuned to learn more about some great new drugstore products and a few high end ones, too! Continue Reading
Welcome back for another installment of my Monthly Beauty Favourites posts! Today I’m chatting summer beauty and sharing some of my favourite liquid lipsticks, lip liners, a new brow pencil, a gorgeous baked bronzer, a stunning ombre blush, and my all-time favourite eyeshadow to complete bronze and gold looks. I placed a Colourpop order in May to test out some of their newer launches, so most of my favourites today are from Colourpop — one of my favourite affordable makeup brands. I also tried some products from the Lise Watier limited edition Summer 2016 Escale Collection and found a great bronzer for the summer! If you’re looking to inject some new life into your beauty routine this summer or incorporate a few fun new shades, this post is for you. Let’s chat summer beauty! Continue Reading
Wedding season has arrived! Every year, what to wear to spring weddings is something I’m asked about frequently — so today’s post is another installment in my WHAT TO WEAR TO series. It’s such a popular request, I wrote a post about it last year before I was able photograph my style content! Today I’m chatting about what I’m wearing to spring 2016 weddings when the weather is still a bit unpredictable (FYI, it snowed in Calgary last weekend and it was sprinkling when we photographed this post!). I may be a bit biased because of my love for flowers, but that I think floral print is perfect for spring weddings. It’s colourful and fresh, and there are so many interpretations of it each spring. From soft subdued, to bold and colourful like I’m wearing here, you’re sure to find a print that compliments your personal style. I’ve included links to my favourite floral print dresses this season for every body type (pssst, the dress I’m wearing is under $40!). I also chat about choosing accessories to compliment a statement dress, along with my special occasion hair and makeup tips.
Hey guys! It seems like forever since my last monthly beauty favourites post, doesn’t it? It’s a few days later than usual because I bumped it back to coordinate with my In Search of Yummyness In The Kitchen With interview, so today I’m excited to share my April Beauty Favourites with you! Like last month, I gravitated towards cooler purple tones on the eyes and peaches and corals on the lips. It was an especially busy month and I tend to fall back on my favourite formulas when I don’t have time to search out and test new products. This month I fell in love with a stunning neon-purple eyeshadow, a gorgeous peach lipstick, an array of peach and coral glosses, an affordable new setting spray, and a new dry shampoo from my favourite brand. If you have a few minutes to relax this Sunday, grab a beverage and a snack and let’s chat about some great beauty products! Continue Reading
