It’s been awhile since my last fitness post, so I thought it was the perfect time to chat about staying active (and warm) this winter! If you read about My Fitness Routine, you’ll know that while I’m fairly new to maintaining a workout regime, I am pretty dedicated to keeping up with my health and fitness goals in an attainable way. For me, consistency is key and I need something quick but effective if I’m going to stick with it long term. Admittedly, these frigid temperatures often leave me feeling unmotivated to get outside and enjoy the season — it sure is beautiful, but baby it’s cold outside!
Last week, a lovely gift arrived from my friends at Sport Chek to help me stay cozy (and stylish) this winter as temperatures in Calgary plummet. Whether you’ve resolved to stick to your current routine throughout the holidays, want to jumpstart a healthier lifestyle in 2017, or are shopping for a motivating gift for someone special this season, Sport Chek truly has everything you need under one roof — and that convenience is exactly what I (and I’m sure many of you) are looking for this time of year. Come along with me today as I unbox the latest in Winter Activewear Essentials this holiday season and put them to the test in Calgary’s arctic weather! Continue Reading
Welcome back for another installment of my AUTUMN 2016 TREND GUIDES — where I break down this seasons biggest trends and show you how to wear them! With so many great new sartorial trends cropping up this season, I’ve chosen another handful of my favourites to style for you — this time in a boho-luxe look with urban flair. Today we’re chatting bomber jackets, velvet and satin, mini bags, square and block heels (yep, they’re back!), mock necks, jewel tones, circular shades and matte, velvety lips! If you’re looking to update your personal style with some versatile staples this season, you’ll love this post — each piece I’m wearing has been on heavy rotation in my autumn wardrobe. And of course, I’ll be referencing the Fall 2016 Pantone Fashion Trend Report — it’s been a major source of inspiration to me in all creative avenues this autumn!
We’re back from Christmas in November at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge and tonight I’m recapping our experience! What is Christmas in November, you ask? Basically, it’s a giant meeting of people who love all the same things I love — great food, wine, entertainment and seasonal inspiration. This past weekend we cooked with celebrity chefs, learned about holiday decor from industry experts, came away with tons of culinary inspiration and tasted wine from all over the world. Sounds like a good time, right? Now, imagine that experience set in a charming, rustic lodge, overlooking a serene mountain lake in a picturesque National Park. That, my friends, is what Christmas in November at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge is all about! I’m sharing every detail of our trip — including the accommodations, the food, and drink, the lodge, the spa, the setting, the sessions, the after parties, who we met and what I wore! Come along with us to Jasper, Alberta on this festive retreat nestled in the Canadian Rocky Mountains and let’s kick off the holiday season in style!
I’m so excited to share the first post in a of a series of AUTUMN 2016 TREND GUIDES here at JustineCelina, where I’m breaking down this seasons biggest trends and showing you how to wear them! I’ve mentioned previously that fall is my favourite time of year for many reasons and fashion in definitely one of them. There’s just something about autumn that makes me want to start anew and refresh my wardrobe to reflect current trends — so today I’m sharing a few of the updates I’ve made and how I like to style my new additions. Today we’re chatting about the new romantic trend and combining 70’s inspired fall florals, waistcoats, rich reds, military greens, statement sleeves, mini bags, velvet, matte lips, chokers, shades of grey, over the knee boots and suede to achieve the look! Oh… and you didn’t think I want going to publish a post without mentioning the Fall 2016 Pantone Fashion Trend Report, did you?
If you’ve been following along on social media, you may have read or heard a few times how exhausted I was feeling at the end of last week. There are some incredibly exciting things happening behind the scenes right now that can’t wait to share with you soon — but it’s been a ton of work getting them off the ground! I’ve mentioned previously that I’m a major workaholic (I absolutely love what I do!) and sometimes it can get the better of me. I’m definitely more mindful of it these days since balance is something I seem to be constantly pursuing. It can be really difficult for me to step away from my work — especially since I find myself really getting in a groove creatively and wanting to keep up the momentum. But, as I’ve also mentioned previously, I need to remember that while consistency is important in producing great creative work, so is taking care of myself so I can stay inspired and not completely burn out (which I was on the verge of last week). I’m sure many of you fellow creatives can relate!
So, I took this weekend to rejuvenate and rescheduled every commitment I had. Friday evening we grabbed sushi and wine at our favourite place (Kabuku downtown if any of you Calgarians are wondering), gave each other massages set to spa music and went to bed before midnight (yes I know, we’re old). Saturday I chatted with my oldest friend on the phone for 2 hours, caught up on some housework, blog work and basic R&R. I’m talking skipping my daily HIIT workout and doing research for upcoming projects and content from bed with a big cup of freshly ground, french pressed coffee and a big messy bun — and not getting out of my pyjamas until I took an amazing, 45 minute shower (I actually had time to wash my hair!). I even did a face mask, which I used to do every Sunday evening, but sadly haven’t had the energy for lately. On Sunday, we decided to make the most of this beautiful, early autumn weather and head west towards the Rocky Mountains for a wine picnic. I hope you enjoy coming along with us in this photo diary of our Mini Mountain Getaway! Continue Reading
I, along with almost every other woman on the planet, will tell you that fall is my favourite time of year, especially for fashion. But September specifically is my favourite month — well, for almost everything (except Pumpkin Spice Lattes… I may be the only woman on the planet who’s not a fan of those!). It’s nice enough outside that we don’t have to be totally bundled up, but cooler temperatures call for more autumnal, layered style. It’s the perfect opportunity to maximize wear time on your favourite summer pieces, but also to begin playing with autumn fashion. So, today’s post a fall-inspired outfit with wear now appeal — a summer-meets-autumn mashup that we only get to wear for a brief window of time here in Calgary! I’m also chatting about some of fall 2016’s biggest trends and giving you tips to incorporate them into your personal style, right now.
It’s that magical time of year in Calgary. Flowers are still in bloom, the weather is mild and the leaves are just starting to yellow. I can’t complain about September’s temperatures so far (we enjoyed a glass of wine on the patio right after we shot this post), but there’s a definite crispness in the air and a few crunchy leaves at my feet. I personally love this time of year, especially for fashion. And while I’m not quite ready to embrace autumn’s knits, boots and scarves, I’ve been pairing my summer favourites with lighter layers and a more autumnal colour palette during this transitional month. Today’s post is another installment in my HOW TO STYLE IT series — where I’m chatting about how to style jumpsuits and culotte silhouettes. I’m also sharing a few tips on how I like to transition more summery pieces like jumpsuits, maxis and rompers into autumn! Come hang out with me today for a dose of 70’s inspired glam and some casual autumn elegance.
