It’s been quite awhile since I’ve published a dedicated beauty review, but this is one has been on my list for the better part of 2017! Today I’m thrilled to share a comprehensive review of one of my all time favourite eyeshadow formulas — the Colourpop Super Shock Shadows. I fell head over heels for Colourpop in 2015 (just browse the JustineCelinaBEAUTY archives!), went absolutely crazy and purchased about a million of their eyeshadows (and lip products, and highlighters, and… well, you get the idea!). Since then, this innovative, affordable LA based brand has exploded and now offers 90 Super Shock Shadow shades (and trust me, I’ve had to restrain myself from buying almost every single one!). I’ve owned many of their Super Shock Shadows since 2015 — some of which I’ve completely used up (and had to repurchase) and some that are now discontinued. So today, I’m sharing reviews, photos and swatches of the 22 shades I own that are currently available!
Colourpop’s Super Shock Shadows retail at $5.00 USD for 2.1g (0.074oz) and the quality is truly incomparable to anything on the market today. In 2015 when they first launched, the formula was completely revolutionary — a creme-powder with a unique bouncy texture. The pigmentation is intense, the shades are unique and they wear all day (and night) without fading or creasing. They’re also cruelty free and handmade in LA. I haven’t actually published reviews on most of my favourite shades here at JustineCelina because they don’t really fall into my Monthly Favourites category (since they’re staples I reach for regularly, sometimes products like this slip through the cracks!), so I figured it was about time to introduce you. If you’re an eyeshadow lover looking for some fantastic, affordable shadows (or want deets on my must haves from the range) this post is for you! Continue Reading
Today I’m reviewing the 9 shades I own from the Colourpop Crème Gel Liner range. Currently there are 25 shades available, and I decided to pick up 9 to try out — 4 metallic shades and 5 mattes. Colourpop’s Crème Gel Liners retail at $5.00 USD for 0.01 oz., just a fraction of the cost of their high-end counterparts. As makeup-loving contact wearer with extremely sensitive eyes, I think I’m the perfect candidate to test out eyeliner! I’ve been wearing and testing them for about 4 months (since they first launched the product!) so I have a really good handle on them. If you’re looking for a great alternative to higher-end eyeliners, or want to learn more about eyeliner in general, this post is for you! I also include links to my other Colourpop reviews and favourite products. Continue Reading
Today I’m chatting about my latest beauty obsession — the new Ultra Matte Lips from Colourpop! Currently there are 33 shades available, and I decided to pick up 10 from the range to try out. Colourpop’s Ultra Matte Lips retail at $6.00 USD for 0.11 oz., just a fraction of the cost of their high-end counterparts. Lately, it seems like every brand is coming out with their version of a liquid lipstick, and I’m generally a fan of liquid lipstick formulas — they dry to a flat matte finish and are super long wearing. If you’re a lipstick lover (or want to learn more about liquid lipstick) this post is for you! I also have a review of 10 shades from the Ultra Satin Lip range. Continue Reading
Happy snowy Sunday, beautiful people! I’m elated to be curled up in a cozy sweater and fuzzy slippers with a big mug of chamomile tea this weekend working away on my October 2017 Beauty Favourites post — it’s a cold one in Calgary! If you’re looking for an excuse to hole up inside and avoid stepping foot into the frigid outdoors this weekend (and getting out of your sweatpants!), you’re in luck. Pour yourself a warm cup of whatever your little heart desires (mulled wine, perhaps?!), grab your iPad, phone or snuggle up in front of your laptop with your softest throw and let’s chat autumn beauty!
October was a bit of a whirlwind — it included a lot of travel, a new haircut and desire to refresh my look, shake things up and discover new products! I had a love affair with red lips and liquid lips — and wore one red in particular most of the month whenever I felt like something bold. I also became totally smitten with a pretty autumnal shade from the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick range, continued to practically bathe in Colourpop Super Shock Highlighters, rediscovered my love for an innovative mattifying product and found an incredible, inexpensive nude eyeliner that makes my eyes look bright and awake (trust me, last month I needed all the help I could get!). In the FRAGRANCE and SKINCARE categories, I got acquainted with an ultra pampering, uplifting body soufflé from Crabtree & Eveyln and reacquainted with one of my favourite autumn scents. It was somewhat of a minimalistic month for me beauty wise, as it took me awhile to figure out what worked best with my new fringe (which I’m still loving, by the way!), my eyebrows and eye makeup have definitely taken a back seat (no one can really tell I haven’t plucked or filled in my brows or spent those extra few minutes blending my eyeshadow — and it’s kind of amazing!). Let’s dive into my October 2017 Beauty Favourites, shall we?
Whenever I’m chatting beauty with someone, the most common question I’m asked what my favourite high end products are from different categories! I’ve always wanted to create a post that my readers, friends and family members can use as their ultimate resource to inform their luxury beauty purchases. Well my friends, today is the day! I’ve partnered with Sephora Canada to share a comprehensive guide of my all-time-favourite Luxury Products Worth the Splurge — the ones in my stash that I couldn’t live without, have repurchased multiple times, use frequently on others, or that have completely wowed me lately!
If you’ve been reading JustineCelina for any length of time, you’ll know that I love a mixture of drugstore and high-end products — I truly believe you can find great beauty products at any price point. Today I’m sharing products that are worth the extra investment — they’re just that good (I promise the price tag is totally justified!). This mega post is organized into categories to highlight the best-of-the best products in every part of my routine — including skincare, haircare and of course, tons of beauty favourites. Want to upgrade your beauty regime? Looking for some early holiday gifting ideas? Taking advantage of annual sales? My friends, this post is for you! Kick back this weekend for my ultimate guide on what’s worth your hard-earned cash this season! Continue Reading
My love for the season has definitely translated into my September Beauty Favourites! Last month my favourite products were rich and earthtoned across the board. I’m sure I’m not the only one who can’t wait for fall to roll around so I can incorporate some deeper, richer hues into my beauty routine — give me all the autumnal reds, berries, browns and golds, please! I discovered some luxurious, comfortable lipsticks in on-trend shades for fall 2016, a stunning duochrome eyeshadow that’s one of the most unique shades I’ve ever worn, used some of my favourite lip liners all over my lips as matte lipsticks, rekindled my love for Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfectors and totally used up my favourite Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder. Stay tuned for some fantastic fall beauty recommendations and an introduction to the Fall 2016 Pantone Fashion Trend Report — you’re going to be hearing a lot about it over the next couple of months here at JustineCelina!
