It’s been quite awhile since I’ve published a dedicated beauty review, but this is one has been on my list for the better part of 2017! Today I’m thrilled to share a comprehensive review of one of my all time favourite eyeshadow formulas — the Colourpop Super Shock Shadows. I fell head over heels for Colourpop in 2015 (just browse the JustineCelinaBEAUTY archives!), went absolutely crazy and purchased about a million of their eyeshadows (and lip products, and highlighters, and… well, you get the idea!). Since then, this innovative, affordable LA based brand has exploded and now offers 90 Super Shock Shadow shades (and trust me, I’ve had to restrain myself from buying almost every single one!). I’ve owned many of their Super Shock Shadows since 2015 — some of which I’ve completely used up (and had to repurchase) and some that are now discontinued. So today, I’m sharing reviews, photos and swatches of the 22 shades I own that are currently available!
Colourpop’s Super Shock Shadows retail at $5.00 USD for 2.1g (0.074oz) and the quality is truly incomparable to anything on the market today. In 2015 when they first launched, the formula was completely revolutionary — a creme-powder with a unique bouncy texture. The pigmentation is intense, the shades are unique and they wear all day (and night) without fading or creasing. They’re also cruelty free and handmade in LA. I haven’t actually published reviews on most of my favourite shades here at JustineCelina because they don’t really fall into my Monthly Favourites category (since they’re staples I reach for regularly, sometimes products like this slip through the cracks!), so I figured it was about time to introduce you. If you’re an eyeshadow lover looking for some fantastic, affordable shadows (or want deets on my must haves from the range) this post is for you! Continue Reading
You guys, Colourpop did it again! If you’ve been with me for awhile you’ll know how much I love Colourpop Cosmetics — an innovative, affordable, cruelty-free makeup brand hailing from L.A. Last spring when their first line of liquid lipsticks launched, I loved them so much that I did a dedicated review post. And while I do still love the original Ultra Matte Lips, the liquid lipstick world has blown up over the last year — formulas have been perfected, colour ranges have expanded, and brands are really listening to what consumers are looking for. So, when I heard Colourpop launched an Ultra Satin Lip formula that was supposed to by less drying, you know I had to try it out! Click through for my full Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip review, with lots of photos, swatches and comparisons to the original Ultra Matte Lip formula. Continue Reading
Today I’m reviewing the 9 shades I own from the Colourpop Crème Gel Liner range. Currently there are 25 shades available, and I decided to pick up 9 to try out — 4 metallic shades and 5 mattes. Colourpop’s Crème Gel Liners retail at $5.00 USD for 0.01 oz., just a fraction of the cost of their high-end counterparts. As makeup-loving contact wearer with extremely sensitive eyes, I think I’m the perfect candidate to test out eyeliner! I’ve been wearing and testing them for about 4 months (since they first launched the product!) so I have a really good handle on them. If you’re looking for a great alternative to higher-end eyeliners, or want to learn more about eyeliner in general, this post is for you! I also include links to my other Colourpop reviews and favourite products. Continue Reading
Today I’m chatting about my latest beauty obsession — the new Ultra Matte Lips from Colourpop! Currently there are 33 shades available, and I decided to pick up 10 from the range to try out. Colourpop’s Ultra Matte Lips retail at $6.00 USD for 0.11 oz., just a fraction of the cost of their high-end counterparts. Lately, it seems like every brand is coming out with their version of a liquid lipstick, and I’m generally a fan of liquid lipstick formulas — they dry to a flat matte finish and are super long wearing. If you’re a lipstick lover (or want to learn more about liquid lipstick) this post is for you! I also have a review of 10 shades from the Ultra Satin Lip range. Continue Reading
Hey guys! It seems like forever since my last monthly beauty favourites post, doesn’t it? It’s a few days later than usual because I bumped it back to coordinate with my In Search of Yummyness In The Kitchen With interview, so today I’m excited to share my April Beauty Favourites with you! Like last month, I gravitated towards cooler purple tones on the eyes and peaches and corals on the lips. It was an especially busy month and I tend to fall back on my favourite formulas when I don’t have time to search out and test new products. This month I fell in love with a stunning neon-purple eyeshadow, a gorgeous peach lipstick, an array of peach and coral glosses, an affordable new setting spray, and a new dry shampoo from my favourite brand. If you have a few minutes to relax this Sunday, grab a beverage and a snack and let’s chat about some great beauty products! Continue Reading
I gravitated towards bright, warm hues during the month of June! Since I’ve been doing a lot of sunless tanning this month, my favourite products look great on medium and tan summer skintones. One of my all time favourite looks is a bright lip with tan skin and a clean cat eye — I wore a bright lip pretty much everyday I wore makeup. My love affair with Colourpop continued, and I also have two favourites from Becca this month. I went back to my all-time favourite liquid eyeliner (which makes it super easy to achieve a perfect winged liner, I promise!). Get ready for a healthy dose of summer beauty recommendations! Fellow fashionistas, welcome back for the first TREND GUIDE of 2018! If the new year has you itching to upgrade your personal style or educate yourself about what’s hot this winter, you’ve come to the right place! Today I’m styling a handful of my favourite winter-to-spring trends in a colourful, artistic look — including red, chenille, berets, circular details, distressed hems and sock boots (I marched right into 2018 wearing my favourite pair!). I’m also sharing some of my favourite cold weather beauty staples and a look ahead at spring colour trends as forecasted by Pantone (because although it’s a new year, some things never change!).
Is there any better time than during an extreme cold warning to settle in for my Winter 2018 Trend Guide | Red Hot (sorry, couldn’t resist that pun!)? If you have half an hour to spare this weekend, I’d love you to join me in learning how to find the right red for your colouring, my best cold weather layering tips that won’t leave you looking overstuffed, where to score the best deals on outerwear and my favourite source for designer sunglass dupes (that’s right — mine were less than $20!). I’m also sharing how to style these key trends into spring if you’re planning ahead, or, you know, don’t live in one of the coldest places in the world. If you’re ready to inject some colour and fun to your winter wardrobe, this post is for you!
