Hey beautiful people — welcome back for another Monthly Beauty Favourites! June was a fun month here at JustineCelina, packed with events, roadtrips, and absolutely gorgeous weather. Summer has definitely arrived in Calgary and I’ve been taking every opportunity I can to get outside and enjoy it! In June I experimented with a lot of seasonal trends in the beauty department and really pushed the boundaries of what type of what type of products I incorporated into my routine. It creative month for me beauty wise — and it was a blast!
If you’re so over spring pastels and nudes, this post is for you! My June 2017 Beauty Favourites are bursting with vibrant hues and unconventional finishes and formulas. I have mini reviews on a little bit of everything today — a beautiful, compact, warm toned eyeshadow palette (which is actually a fantastic alternative to the in-and-out of stock Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette), my favourite mascara of the year (and it just happens to be under $7!), more Lancôme lip products, a delicious vegan shower cream, a neon red blush, an ultra fine makeup setting mist, a spray that makes your locks super shiny, a metallic rose gold polish with good-for-your-nail ingredients. If you’re looking for a relaxing mid week read, settle in with me today and let’s chat about the best in summer beauty!
Happy New Year and welcome back for my first beauty post of 2017! Today I’m recapping my favourite products from the last month of 2016 in my December Beauty Favourites. December was a very busy month for me both professionally and personally (it’s the craziest time of year, isn’t it?). I was testing new products and shades for my 2 last posts with Sephora Canada for 2016 — my 5 Festive Lipsticks to Try This Holiday Season (who did me proud and wore red lipstick on Christmas Day?!) and My Routine for Flawless Looking Skin. I didn’t have much time to test other products, so most of my December Favourites are products I’ve mentioned in my beauty content over the last couple of months, or new shades from my favourite ranges! Although the list is small this month, I reached for these products almost daily and even packed most of them with me when we headed east to visit with family and friends over the holidays.
In December I fell in love with an chic, burgundy liquid lipstick, a new mascara that makes my lashes look voluminous and fluffy, a versatile (and ultra luxurious) eyeshadow palette, an intense gold pigment, a makeup setting spray perfect for special occasions and a suite of indulgent (and heavenly scented) body care products from L’Occitane. It’s been awhile since we chatted Monthly Beauty Favourites — so kick back, relax and let’s get into a few of my winter must haves!
There’s a good chance that if you read my blog, you love lipstick just as much as I do. Today I’m elated to continue to the lipstick lovefest here at JustineCelina and have teamed up with Sephora Canada to bring you my favourite 5 Festive Lipsticks to try this Holiday Season! Whether you’re a red lip connoisseur or you’re still searching for your perfect shade, there’s truly something for everyone in this post. I personally believe that a great red lipstick possesses some sort of magical power — anytime I swipe one of these shades on I instantly feel more confident, empowered and beautiful!
I’m sharing my top red lip picks across categories and in a variety shades, finishes and formulas — there’s been some serious red lipstick testing going down at JustineCelina headquarters lately! If you’re feeling bold this season, I’ve also included some on-trend metallic lip options ranging from all the way from subtle to full-on glitter (which surprisingly is more wearable than you may think!). If your lipstick game could use a festive touch this holiday season I’ve totally got you covered — grab a peppermint mocha let’s chat about some of my favourite red lip options for Holiday 2016 this weekend!
Hey beautiful people — welcome back for the November installment of my Monthly Beauty Favourites! November was a very experimental month for me beauty wise and I discovered some amazing new products that have become staples in my everyday routine. Liquid lipsticks have become my go-to anytime I need something extremely long wearing and budgeproof — and I fell in love with two warm, mid toned neutral shades this month from Smashbox and Huda Beauty. I also discovered a fantastic new contour powder and mascara that have been on repeat all month long! In November I had my first introduction to Anastasia Beverly Hills eyeshadows (I think everyone should own the palette I’m about to mention!) and to Commodity‘s beautiful, cozy fragrances. To cap things off, I also have a few limited edition favourites for Holiday 2016, including a gorgeous palette from Hourglass Cosmetics and a rose quartzPantone Colour of the Year themed highlighter (I bet you saw that one coming!). If you’re looking to inject some glam into your routine as we transition into the holidays, kick back with me on this snowy Sunday afternoon and let’s chat beauty!
Welcome back for the first of many Spring / Summer 2017 TREND GUIDES coming to JustineCelina this season! Today we’re kicking things off with a bang — my Spring 2017 Trend Guide | Gingham Style was shot at 2900 feet atop Sulphur Mountain in the Canadian Rockies! Knowing my Mom was the woman behind the lens of my style content, my friends at Brewster Travel Canada reached out earlier this month, offering to treat us to a chocolate tasting and wine pairing at the Sky Bistro for Mother’s Day (how incredibly thoughtful is that?)! I’d been trying to mastermind a way to get my Mom to the mountains for Mother’s Day for quite some time, so when the opportunity to spend a day learning about chocolate from master chocolatier Bernard Callebaut presented itself, she simply couldn’t pass it up. We had the best time — I know many of you enjoyed coming along in my Insta Stories last weekend!
Today I’ll be sharing a few highlights from our day along with key seasonal trends — we’re talking yellow, red (and that Spring 2017 Pantone Fashion Color Report!), gingham, embroidery, flats, novelty denim and more. This post is part Spring 2017 Trend Guide | Gingham Style and part Mother’s Day in the Mountains! I’ve condensed our Mother’s Day experience to the first part of the post, so if you’re just here for the FASHION, you can find that towards the middle. I hope you enjoy the change of scenery, the style and a few snippets of our mountain getaway!
It’s mid April… and I’m editing this post during yet another Snowfall Warning here in Calgary! I don’t meant to give you a mini weather update every time I publish new style content — but the weather greatly impacts what I wear, and therefore share with you FASHION wise here at JustineCelina. And to be completely honest, this has been the longest winter I can remember… like, ever! The silver lining is that our chilly, temperamental ‘Canadian spring’ has forced me to get really creative when it comes to dressing myself for these transitional months. We shot these photos on a beautiful, 11°C spring day last week — followed by a winter storm and freezing temperatures that evening. This outfit is one I’ve worn several iterations of over the past couple of months — a mashup of winter coziness with an infusion of spring trends!
So, what’s a girl supposed to wear when she experiences each of the four seasons in one day? This versatile, layered look with an air of cool sophistication is my answer! In this edition of my HOW TO STYLE series, I’m chatting all about Transitional Layers and how to make them work for you this April in our unpredictable climate. I’m also dipping my toes into a few spring trends you can wear no matter the weather — including longline layers, baker boy hats (yep, still loving them!), dark denim, contrast stitching and statement sleeves, paired up with classic spring staples like trench coats, versatile knits and pointed toe shoes. I’m also mixing prints and using this moody spring weather as one last excuse to rock a vampy lip! Navigate the changing seasons and our crazy Canadian spring in style with a simple outfit formula that can be adapted to both personal and professional settings!
I’m spending Good Friday catching up on some editorial content — and I don’t mind one bit! It’s snowing (again… cue eye roll!) here in Calgary so I’m quite content to be curled up at my desk in a cozy pair of sweatpants and fuzzy socks with my second cup of coffee. Spring has definitely been holding out on us this year — and while most of the world (and the fashion industry) is in full on spring mode, I always dress for our current Alberta climate. Today I’m thrilled to introduce a new series to the JustineCelinaFASHION department called PATTERN PLAY — where I dedicate an entire post to a specific pattern — along with tons of styling ideas, curated pieces with shoppable links at every price point and tips for selecting the right print for your lifestyle and body type. And we’re kicking things off with one of my favourite classic prints, leopard! I’m also taking this snow covered opportunity to get the last of cold weather textures in — including (faux) leather, satin and wool. Hey — I’m a glass half full kinda gal!
Regardless of whether you’re a leopard lover or never thought leopard was for you, there’s something for everyone in today’s post! I’m chatting about how you can incorporate leopard print into your wardrobe right now as well as transition it into spring (and style it with 2 of my favourite spring prints, stripes and florals!). I’ve always considered leopard print a neutral (when you break it down, it’s just shades of brown and black) — and while it’s more popular some seasons than others, this iconic pattern truly never goes out of style. In fact, I’ve owned my oldest leopard piece for about 8 years! Of course, there are some of the usual suspects in today’s look as well — including baker boy hats (but don’t worry — I finally trimmed my fringe this week so I’ll be sharing some new style content next month where I’m not wearing a hat!), longline coats, OTK boots and a beautiful, neutral lip — but I’ve also integrated some fun, playful textures in this monochromatic, leopard-centric outfit.
