COLOURPOP SUPER SHOCK SHADOW PHOTOS, REVIEW, SWATCHES | 22 SHADES!

It’s been quite awhile since I’ve published a dedicated beauty review, but this is one has been on my list for the better part of 2017! Today I’m thrilled to share a comprehensive review of one of my all time favourite eyeshadow formulas — the Colourpop Super Shock Shadows. I fell head over heels for Colourpop in 2015 (just browse the JustineCelina BEAUTY archives!), went absolutely crazy and purchased about a million of their eyeshadows (and lip products, and highlighters, and… well, you get the idea!). Since then, this innovative, affordable LA based brand has exploded and now offers 90 Super Shock Shadow shades (and trust me, I’ve had to restrain myself from buying almost every single one!). I’ve owned many of their Super Shock Shadows since 2015 — some of which I’ve completely used up (and had to repurchase) and some that are now discontinued. So today, I’m sharing reviews, photos and swatches of the 22 shades I own that are currently available!

Colourpop’s Super Shock Shadows retail at $5.00 USD for 2.1g (0.074oz) and the quality is truly incomparable to anything on the market today. In 2015 when they first launched, the formula was completely revolutionary — a creme-powder with a unique bouncy texture. The pigmentation is intense, the shades are unique and they wear all day (and night) without fading or creasing. They’re also cruelty free and handmade in LA. I haven’t actually published reviews on most of my favourite shades here at JustineCelina because they don’t really fall into my Monthly Favourites category (since they’re staples I reach for regularly, sometimes products like this slip through the cracks!), so I figured it was about time to introduce you. If you’re an eyeshadow lover looking for some fantastic, affordable shadows (or want deets on my must haves from the range) this post is for you! Continue Reading

COLOURPOP ULTRA SATIN LIP PHOTOS, REVIEW, SWATCHES

You guys, Colourpop did it again! If you’ve been with me for awhile you’ll know how much I love Colourpop Cosmetics — an innovative, affordable, cruelty-free makeup brand hailing from L.A. Last spring when their first line of liquid lipsticks launched, I loved them so much that I did a dedicated review post. And while I do still love the original Ultra Matte Lips, the liquid lipstick world has blown up over the last year — formulas have been perfected, colour ranges have expanded, and brands are really listening to what consumers are looking for. So, when I heard Colourpop launched an Ultra Satin Lip formula that was supposed to by less drying, you know I had to try it out! Click through for my full Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip review, with lots of photos, swatches and comparisons to the original Ultra Matte Lip formula. Continue Reading

GREY DAYS

We’ve been having quite a few grey, rainy days lately. So, I thought I’d embrace it and show you what I wear on a more casual day when I still want to look cute and pulled together! On cooler spring days I like to feel cozy but also wear lighter colours and layers to keep things fresh and seasonally appropriate. I pretty much live in great basics like skinny jeans, cute flats, classic v-necks and oversized cardigans when I’m keeping things casual. Sometimes I also give my eyes a break from contacts and wear glasses. I picked up a couple of new frames recently, so I thought I’d show you how I style them on a casual day! I also chat about my go-to natural makeup look — it’s perfect for glasses.

APRIL BEAUTY FAVOURITES

Hey guys! It seems like forever since my last monthly beauty favourites post, doesn’t it? It’s a few days later than usual because I bumped it back to coordinate with my In Search of Yummyness In The Kitchen With interview, so today I’m excited to share my April Beauty Favourites with you! Like last month, I gravitated towards cooler purple tones on the eyes and peaches and corals on the lips. It was an especially busy month and I tend to fall back on my favourite formulas when I don’t have time to search out and test new products. This month I fell in love with a stunning neon-purple eyeshadow, a gorgeous peach lipstick, an array of peach and coral glosses, an affordable new setting spray, and a new dry shampoo from my favourite brand. If you have a few minutes to relax this Sunday, grab a beverage and a snack and let’s chat about some great beauty products!

5 UNCONVENTIONAL SPRING LIP COLOURS

There’s just something about spring that makes me really want to experiment in the beauty department! After our long, dreary (and extremely colourless) winters here in Calgary I feel so energized and inspired by the fresh beauty of spring. It’s a time where I try a lot of new products and discover new beauty favourites. So today’s post is something a little different — I’m sharing my favourite 5 Unconventional Spring Lip Colours! Pink and peach are great standbys, but this post is all about trying something totally outside of your comfort zone. I like to keep up with what’s going on in both fashion and beauty, so today’s picks combine a bit of runway inspiration with spring beauty trends. I love affordable beauty products and am always on the hunt for the next drugstore gem — each of my recommendations today is under $20! If you’re looking for some spring beauty inspiration or some fun, on-trend spring shades, this post is for you! Continue Reading

COLOURPOP CRÈME GEL LINER PHOTOS, REVIEW, SWATCHES

Today I’m reviewing the 9 shades I own from the Colourpop Crème Gel Liner range. Currently there are 25 shades available, and I decided to pick up 9 to try out — 4 metallic shades and 5 mattes. Colourpop’s Crème Gel Liners retail at $5.00 USD for 0.01 oz., just a fraction of the cost of their high-end counterparts. As makeup-loving contact wearer with extremely sensitive eyes, I think I’m the perfect candidate to test out eyeliner! I’ve been wearing and testing them for about 4 months (since they first launched the product!) so I have a really good handle on them. If you’re looking for a great alternative to higher-end eyeliners, or want to learn more about eyeliner in general, this post is for you! I also include links to my other Colourpop reviews and favourite products. Continue Reading

JANUARY BEAUTY FAVOURITES

There’s nothing like going through your whole makeup stash for a yearly beauty favourites post to discover some new favourites and inspire you! In January I was all over the map in terms of the colours I wore, and it was a very experimental month for me, makeup wise. Since I come from an artistic background (if you didn’t know, I went to art college), I approach my makeup like I would a painting or drawing — I’m just painting and drawing on my face! I’ve always loved beauty so much because it’s a way for me to combine my passions. Like fashion, it’s a form of self-expression for me. I was the little girl who was always playing around in my Mom’s makeup, and giving friends makeovers during my adolescence! My January 2016 Beauty Favourites are full of rich, warm shades, violets and rosy hues. I also discovered a very natural-looking, gradual self tanner that gives you a the perfect amount of colour for winter! Continue Reading
