Happy love day, friends! This year, I’m putting a PANTONE 2019 Colour of the Year spin on Valentine’s celebrations with a warm, pink-hued introduction to all things Living Coral! By now, you’ve likely heard about 2019’s hottest hue — either here at JustineCelina, or elsewhere online. As a creative professional, I’ve followed PANTONE (the global colour authority for creative industries) for inspiration my entire career. In fact, I even have a section dedicated to them here on the blog to categorize all my PANTONE inspired work throughout the years! As someone who’s very inspired by colour, I love to stay informed about the latest colour trends and allow them to inspire, challenge and push my creative work.
As you can probably imagine, I’m particularly passionate about PANTONE’s selection for 2019! Flower lovers, I’m elated to share the first arrangement of 2018 with you today — inspired by the Pantone Colour of the Year for 2018, Ultra Violet! This January, Rebecca Dawn Design and I are feeling re-energized by seasonal colour trends and winter’s most beautiful blooms and foliage. Tonight we’re showcasing a stunning array of Anemones, Spray Roses, Bella Donna Dephinium, Astrantia, Astilbe, Sedum, Ruby Silk Grass, Nandina, Umbrella Fern and Knife Blade Acacia in a cool, unconventional palette inspired by the Pantone Spring Fashion Colour Trend Report. I don’t know about you, but with March dancing on the horizon I’m so over winter. Today I decided to bring spring to JustineCelina a bit early with a Pantone Inspired Banana Walnut Green Smoothie Bowl! I’ve been on a mission to simplify, streamline and organize my life this year in an attempt to cultivate more balance — and that’s definitely trickled into my diet as well. Although I tend to favour simple, seasonal recipes packed full of awesome, fresh ingredients, I’ve found myself especially drawn to culinary minimalism (did you catch my Blood Orange Creamsicle Mimosas!?). Although I love smoothies, I was feeling a bit uninspired about drinking them from a mason jar as of late. So, I reignited my passion for smoothies by enjoying them bowl style — decked out with delicious, fresh toppings (hey, we eat with our eyes first, right?)! Last week, Pantone announced their colours of the year — they chose two colours for the first time in history! The official Colours of the Year for 2016 are Rose Quartz (a soft pastel pink), and Serenity (a periwinkle pastel blue). Hey, friends. How’s everyone doing? Wow — what an intense couple of months its been! If you keep up with me on Instagram (and if you don’t, I’d love for you to join me!), you may have some insight into how quickly life has changed here in Calgary as a result of COVID-19. It’s crazy to think that we started shooting my Winter / Spring 2020 Lookbook back in February when the world was a completely different place — I was still planning outfits for all the different personal and professional situations I would typically find myself in as we transition from winter to spring. As we spend more time in our homes over the next few weeks (or months) and adapt to a new normal, we’ll inevitably be cooking and eating more meals at home — something I’m very passionate about.
