WINTER / SPRING 2020 LOOKBOOK + CONTENT UPDATE

Hey, friends. How’s everyone doing? Wow — what an intense couple of months its been! If you keep up with me on Instagram (and if you don’t, I’d love for you to join me!), you may have some insight into how quickly life has changed here in Calgary as a result of COVID-19. It’s crazy to think that we started shooting my Winter / Spring 2020 Lookbook back in February when the world was a completely different place — I was still planning outfits for all the different personal and professional situations I would typically find myself in as we transition from winter to spring. Things evolved rapidly, so I polled you on Instagram Stories to see if you’d still like to see this LOOKBOOK — and 100% of you responded yes! That said, as we heed the advice of local authorities to stay in whenever possible, I feel it’s important to share we shot these nearly 2 months ago — and I’ve been working from home ever since to get this post ready.

Today, I’m thrilled to finally share my Winter / Spring 2020 Lookbook with you! If you’re in search of a sartorial escape from reality and a look at a handful of my favourite winter-to-spring transitional trends mashed up with wardrobe staples and practical outfit formulas, you’ve come to the right place. As always, you can expect a melange of high, low, old, new and vintage here today — as well as shoppable links at every price point for those in need of a little retail therapy. This LOOKBOOK features my favourite early spring outfit formulas, ideal for temperatures ranging from about 10 degrees on either side of freezing (believe it or not, it was still snowing here last week!). Even though we’ll be spending the majority of our time indoors for the foreseeable future, I still enjoy seasonal trends mixed with easy basics — and showing you how to re-style them season after season (and year after year!). Pour yourself a delicious glass of rosé and settle in with me this weekend as I highlight my favourite winter-to-spring transitional trends, patterns, prints and colours — plus, how I incorporate them into my work-from-home wardrobe!

COLOUR CRUSH | CLASSIC BLUE

Colour lovers, today I’m thrilled to bring you a fresh post in my COLOUR CRUSH series dedicated to the Pantone 2020 Colour of the Year, Classic Blue! Selected by Pantone in late 2019 for its ability to ‘instil calm, confidence, and connection, this enduring blue hue highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era’, it seems especially fitting given the current state of the world. I first introduced you to Classic Blue with January’s Digital Blooms (be sure to hop over to download a free, floral, Pantone 2020 inspired tech wallpaper!) and have been working with this comforting, of-the-moment hue across categories since. That said, although blue has always had a small place in my wardrobe (albeit mostly in denim and more formal attire), as someone with warm colouring, it isn’t a hue I’m typically drawn to. Longtime readers will know that each year I allow Pantone’s selections to inspire and challenge me here at JustineCelina — incorporating the Colour of the Year into my life and content in a way that’s congruent to my personal style. Fast forward to March and I’m absolutely crazy about Classic Blue — and today I’m sharing the inspiration with you!

In the midst of another Winter Storm Warning here in Calgary (and after a particularly heavy week in regards to recent news), I thought this weekend was the perfect time to put the finishing touches on a post I’ve been working on since February. As the way we live continues to change over the coming months, I want JustineCelina to remain a source of inspiration and joy for anyone who needs it — including myself! This instalment of my COLOUR CRUSH series is dedicated to Classic Blue transitional styling, starring one of my favourite casual winter-to-spring outfit formulas, perfect for chilly weather. As always, I’m wearing a melange of high, low, old and new in todays look — a mash up of of transitional wardrobe staples intermixed with trend-forward accessories to create an easy-going late winter outfit that’s quintessentially 2020. If you’re curious about Pantone’s 2020 Colour of the Year how to integrate Classic Blue into your wardrobe as we transition into spring, fix yourself a mug of your favourite tea and settle in for an uplifting Sunday read!

EASY HOLIDAY ENTERTAINING IDEAS

With the holidays just around the corner and the height of entertaining season upon us, I’m elated to share my go-to Easy Holiday Entertaining Ideas in my first dedicated ENTERTAIN post in… gulp… 3 years! The absence of entertaining content here at JustineCelina in recent years has happened authentically, as we’ve scaled back on entertaining in general — simply because life is busy (I’m sure you can relate, especially at this time of year!). Although we love to have an apartment full of company eating, drinking and be merry during the holidays, I’m all about making this festive time of year as fun, stress free and healthy as possible — and that’s what this post is all about! Whether you’ve been with me for years or are new to my cozy little corner of the internet (welcome!), you’ll know I also love to incorporate better-for-you food and drink whenever we’re hosting or attending a party — because I believe in balance and mindful choices in every season of life.

Earlier this month as I pulled out our festive decor and entertaining essentials I discovered Kombrewcha — a delicious, 4.4% ABV hard kombucha made from organic ingredients. As a plant based eater with a sensitive stomach thanks to numerous food intolerances, I’ve long enjoyed kombucha as a way to help keep my digestion on track — especially during the holidays! I also love to mix this effervescent, probiotic-rich, fermented tea into my COCKTAILS (if you follow along with my Instagram Stories, you’ll know I’ve been developing kombucha cocktails since last summer!). This holiday season, I was absolutely delighted to find a better-for-you beverage that incorporates all of my libation must-haves (made from incredible ingredients and free of dairy, gluten and refined sugar!) in a convenient, ready-to-enjoy format. Tonight I’ve partnered with this new to Alberta brand to host a casual holiday dinner party and share my tried and true Easy Holiday Entertaining Ideas — complete with my best decor, styling, hosting, food and drink, fashion and beauty tips to create a festive and memorable evening. Cheers to a happy, healthy and joyous holiday season!

AUTUMN 2019 LOOKBOOK

We’re deep into autumn here in Calgary and I’m back to share what I’ve been wearing in this 6 outfit Autumn 2019 Lookbook! Over the past couple of months we’ve been working on capturing style content more seamlessly in our day-to-day lives, popping out to shoot what I’m wearing whenever (and wherever) we have a couple of free hours — and it’s been working out well! In September I also experimented with publishing a 6 outfit LOOKBOOK  to celebrate the transition of summer to autumn (my favourite time of year!) and I really enjoyed that process. Although I committed to producing one, 12 outfit seasonal LOOKBOOK here at JustineCelina at the beginning of the year, I find that the weather changes so quickly (and drastically) here in Calgary it can be a completely different season from the time I start working on a 12 outfit LOOKBOOK to the time I actually publish it (they’re at least a month in the making!). So, for the remainder of the year, I’m excited to announce I’ll be producing 6 outfit LOOKBOOKS with quicker turn around times, to more accurately depict what I’m wearing for each micro-season!

My Autumn 2019 Lookbook features 6 of my favourite fall looks that have carried me from chinooks through snow storms in style! Autumn weather in Calgary is extremely erratic — and over the years I’ve actually really come to enjoy the challenge of dressing for it. As always, you can expect a mash-up of high, low, old, new and vintage in my Autumn 2019 Lookbook — plus my take on this season’s hottest trends, colours, patterns and silhouettes adapted to both personal and professional settings. Just ahead of Black Friday and Cyber Week sales, this LOOKBOOK is complete with tons of shoppable links at every price point, along with my best tips and sources to curate accessible style at a fraction of traditional retail. You know the drill — pour yourself a cozy glass of wine or snuggle up in front of the fireplace with a cup of tea and let’s chat about styling autumnal FASHION for unpredictable northern climates!

LATE SUMMER 2019 LOOKBOOK

With 3 weeks of summer still to savour, I’m back today with my Late Summer 2019 Lookbook! We started shooting this mammoth project mid-June — and although it’s taken quite some time to process the 2700+ images we took (these LOOKBOOK are definitely labours of love!), I’m absolutely elated to share this 12 outfit, late summer style guide with you today! As usual, it features everything I’ve been wearing and loving in both personal and professional settings over the last couple of months — plus innovative styling tips to help you extend the life of your summer wardrobe as we transition into autumn! My Late Summer 2019 Lookbook is complete with a healthy dose of seasonal trends, plus practical tips on how to wear them into fall, mixed with transitional wardrobe staples and shoppable links at every pricepoint (plus, insider tips about where to score the best end-of-season sales!).

Since I live in a climate where there’s snow covering the ground for 7+ months of the year, I love to make the most of my summer wardrobe (and put as many miles on my open-toed shoes as possible!) while the weather cooperates! Once of my favourite ways to blend summer and autumn is with colour — recently I’ve been really inspired by the Pantone Autumn/Winter 2019/2020 Fashion Colour Trend Report and am taking cues for my transitional style. As always, you can expect a mash-up of high, low, old, new and vintage in my Late Summer 2019 Lookbook — with the beautiful Alberta prairies and badlands as our backdrop! If you’re getting ready to transition your wardrobe into a new season but still hanging onto summer you’re in the right place — I’m dishing on how to blend the best of both seasons in this practical, FASHION-forward guide for style savvy. SPRING / SUMMER 2019 LOOKBOOK

Friends and fashionistas, I’m elated to finally share my SPRING / SUMMER 2019 LOOKBOOK with you! Despite a few delays due to our crazy weather (believe it or not, it snowed in Calgary just a few weeks ago!) we finally wrapped up shooting earlier this month and I’ve since been hard at work creating this seasonally inspired, sartorial guide for the modern woman. My 12 outfit LOOKBOOK features everything I’ve been wearing and loving in both personal and professional settings over the last couple of months and as we transition into summer! As always, it’s complete with a healthy dose of seasonal trends and practical tips on how to wear them, mashed up with classic wardrobe staples and shoppable links at every pricepoint — including the inside scoop on the best sales of the season! It’s been a major labour of love and I hope it’s been worth the wait!

Now that summer is officially upon us (although there’s no end in sight to the rain here in Calgary!), many of us Canadian girls are finally packing away our boots and knits and pulling out our warm weather pieces from years past. I always like to take this time to clean out my closet, identify holes in my seasonal wardrobe, integrate a few updated basics and experiment with new trends. As always, my SPRING / SUMMER 2019 LOOKBOOK runs the gamut of high, low, old, new and vintage — there’s truly something for everyone! It’s bursting with bold colour, print and my favourite warm weather fabrics and textures, plus updated wardrobe staples that offer ultimate styling versatility.  Step into my closet this weekend and get ready for a serious dose of seasonal FASHION and I walk you through the cornerstones of my SS19 wardrobe — I hope it inspires your most stylish summer yet! OUT OF OFFICE

Happy May long weekend, Canadian friends! I wanted to check in quickly to let you know we’re headed to the Kootenays for a week of off-the-grid relaxation. After a very busy past 2 months, Adam and I both had the opportunity to take a full week off at the same time — and we jumped on it! We booked the cutest lakeside cabin where I’ll be enjoying my first completely unplugged, work-free vacation since starting JustineCelina over 4 years ago. To say it’s long overdue is a major understatement!

Although I originally had a number of posts planned for this upcoming week, for once I actually haven’t pre-scheduled content. Instead, I’m taking the opportunity to hit pause, recharge and reconnect — something I hope you’re all able to do this weekend as well, because it’s so important. I’ll be back in action the week of May 27th with tons of fresh content, a refreshed mindset and a restocked wine rack! Thanks for taking the time to stop by if you’re visiting during my break — fortunately, my existing content never takes time off and there are nearly 400 posts here at JustineCelina spanning categories for you to enjoy. Have a wonderful long weekend, beautiful people!
