WHAT TO WEAR TO | SPRING WEDDINGS

Wedding season has arrived! Every year, what to wear to spring weddings is something I’m asked about frequently — so today’s post is another installment in my WHAT TO WEAR TO series. It’s such a popular request, I wrote a post about it last year before I was able photograph my style content! Today I’m chatting about what I’m wearing to spring 2016 weddings when the weather is still a bit unpredictable (FYI, it snowed in Calgary last weekend and it was sprinkling when we photographed this post!). I may be a bit biased because of my love for flowers, but that I think floral print is perfect for spring weddings. It’s colourful and fresh, and there are so many interpretations of it each spring. From soft subdued, to bold and colourful like I’m wearing here, you’re sure to find a print that compliments your personal style. I’ve included links to my favourite floral print dresses this season for every body type (pssst, the dress I’m wearing is under $40!). I also chat about choosing accessories to compliment a statement dress, along with my special occasion hair and makeup tips.

I’m often asked what to wear to specific events, or to style people for special occasions — so I thought it would be fun to start a WHAT TO WEAR series here on JustineCelina, dedicated to these situations! Wedding season is upon us, and choosing an outfit as a wedding guest is something a lot of people have questions about, so today I wanted to share what I wore to a spring wedding. WHAT TO WEAR TO | A CASUAL SUMMER WEDDING

It’s the height of summer here in Calgary — the sun is shining, temperatures are soaring and we’re deep into the heart of wedding season! Over the years I’ve published a few posts about what to wear to Spring Weddings as well as other various outdoor summer events — including Garden Parties and Horse Races. But during my 4 years of blogging, I actually haven’t created a post about What to Wear to | A Casual Summer Wedding (despite it being one of the most searched terms here at JustineCelina during July and August!). So today, in the latest installment in my WHAT TO WEAR TO series, I’m sharing all my best summer style tips for outdoor summer weddings!

Longtime readers will know I relish in the opportunity to dress up and dress well for every experience life has to offer. That said, I also know what it’s like to be overdressed in a casual setting — I’ve attended many a small-town wedding with denim on the menu. While I always prefer to be overdressed rather than underdressed to be respectful to my hosts, over the years I’ve learned a thing or two about how to adapt your attire to your environment without letting it put a damper on your personal style. SPRING / SUMMER 2019 LOOKBOOK

Friends and fashionistas, I’m elated to finally share my SPRING / SUMMER 2019 LOOKBOOK with you! Despite a few delays due to our crazy weather (believe it or not, it snowed in Calgary just a few weeks ago!) we finally wrapped up shooting earlier this month and I’ve since been hard at work creating this seasonally inspired, sartorial guide for the modern woman. My 12 outfit LOOKBOOK features everything I’ve been wearing and loving in both personal and professional settings over the last couple of months and as we transition into summer! As always, it’s complete with a healthy dose of seasonal trends and practical tips on how to wear them, mashed up with classic wardrobe staples and shoppable links at every pricepoint — including the inside scoop on the best sales of the season! It’s been a major labour of love and I hope it’s been worth the wait!

Now that summer is officially upon us (although there’s no end in sight to the rain here in Calgary!), many of us Canadian girls are finally packing away our boots and knits and pulling out our warm weather pieces from years past. I always like to take this time to clean out my closet, identify holes in my seasonal wardrobe, integrate a few updated basics and experiment with new trends. SPRING 2018 TREND GUIDE | LILAC LOVE

Fashionistas, welcome back for my final TREND GUIDE of Spring 2018 — dedicated to my recent obsession with all things lilac (if you’ve been following along this spring, you probably saw this coming!). It’s been an exceptionally busy couple of weeks (I’ll be sharing some fun projects I’ve been working on BTS with you soon!), but before the lilacs faded, we managed to pop out to shoot some new style content in my hometown of Strathmore, Alberta. In fact, we squeezed this shoot into the only free hour we had on our way to Brooks to celebrate a birthday — I had to paint my nails at a sequence of red lights on my way out of the city (yes, I was driving!). All things considered, I love the way these images came out!

Regardless of current trends (or the season, for that matter!), a beautiful, flowy top (which I love so much I picked it up in 2 other colours and ordered one for my Mom!), skinny jeans, comfortable, low heels, a cute bag and a great pair of shades is what you’ll find me in on most spring weekends or casual days — another one of my go-to outfit formulas that’s ultra wearable, yet polished. But this spring, I’ve updated this classic look with a selection of seasonal trends and fresh accessories including lavender, pleats, fluted sleeves, straw bags, block heels, coin necklaces and pearls! If you want to dip your toes into the lavender trend but aren’t sure where to start, stay tuned for a few tips that will help you integrate this of-the-moment hue into your wardrobe or beauty routine this season — even if you’re not sure it’s a colour you can pull off (because you totally can!). SPRING 2018 TREND GUIDE | CHECK YOURSELF

It seems that we skipped spring entirely here in Calgary over the past 2 weeks and went straight from winter to summer — so naturally, I thought it was time to drop my first Spring 2018 TREND GUIDE on you! Admittedly, it’s difficult to keep up with our extremely bipolar climate in Alberta, let alone dress for it. Although we enjoyed many 20 ºC days in late April and early May, over the past few days we’re back to more typical spring weather — May showers included! While I was ecstatic to bust out all my open toed shoes (you can expect a SS18 SHOE GUIDE coming soon!), I also pulled together a few spring looks at the beginning of the season that have been on repeat lately — this is one of them! I never thought I’d see the day where bare legs were an option, but friends, the time has come!

I’m thrilled to bring you my Spring 2018 Trend Guide | Check Yourself — one of my favourite transitional outfit formulas for our Canadian winter-to-spring season, freshened up with a selection of key trends as we move into warmer weather (I can’t even begin to tell you how refreshing it is to not have to shoot in the snow!). SPRING EQUINOX KIWI ELDERFLOWER SMASH

Happy first weekend of spring, friends! Wow — what a crazy, whirlwind week this has been. Between publishing our Living Room Reveal on Monday, my Style Me Pretty Living feature on Wednesday (pinch me!), a very exciting FASHION announcement (which has now published!), to a jam packed calendar full of events and meetings, plus 8 rounds of testing for this recipe (and subsequent cocktail ingredient runs before noon!), I’m finally getting a fresh cocktail for you this weekend. Initially this recipe was supposed to publish on Wednesday to welcome the first day of spring, so let’s just say my Spring Equinox Kiwi Elderflower Smash is fashionably late (like our spring weather) — but she comes bearing gifts!
