Welcome back for the first of many Spring / Summer 2017 TREND GUIDES coming to JustineCelina this season! Today we’re kicking things off with a bang — my Spring 2017 Trend Guide | Gingham Style was shot at 2900 feet atop Sulphur Mountain in the Canadian Rockies! Knowing my Mom was the woman behind the lens of my style content, my friends at Brewster Travel Canada reached out earlier this month, offering to treat us to a chocolate tasting and wine pairing at the Sky Bistro for Mother’s Day (how incredibly thoughtful is that?)! I’d been trying to mastermind a way to get my Mom to the mountains for Mother’s Day for quite some time, so when the opportunity to spend a day learning about chocolate from master chocolatier Bernard Callebaut presented itself, she simply couldn’t pass it up. We had the best time — I know many of you enjoyed coming along in my Insta Stories last weekend!
Today I’ll be sharing a few highlights from our day along with key seasonal trends — we’re talking yellow, red (and that Spring 2017 Pantone Fashion Color Report!), gingham, embroidery, flats, novelty denim and more. This post is part Spring 2017 Trend Guide | Gingham Style and part Mother’s Day in the Mountains! I’ve condensed our Mother’s Day experience to the first part of the post, so if you’re just here for the FASHION, you can find that towards the middle. I hope you enjoy the change of scenery, the style and a few snippets of our mountain getaway!

I’m back today with the first of many Spring 2017 FASHION posts coming to JustineCelina — and it feels fantastic! Originally, this look was scheduled for last month, but shooting style content with a fully dressed finger was decidedly… less than glamorous. Now that I’ve healed up a bit I couldn’t wait to jump back in front of the camera (please excuse the Band-Aid!) and chat about some of my Seasonal Wardrobe Staples. It’s been a long winter on the Alberta prairies, but I think it’s safe to say spring has finally arrived!
If you’re looking to refresh your spring style with a few key pieces this season, I’ve totally got you covered today as we spring forward. Although this outfit definitely incorporates a few trends (keep your eyes peeled for several upcoming Spring 2017 TREND GUIDES!) it’s also comprised of spring wardrobe building blocks and updated basics. You may remember me mentioning I wanted to rebuild my wardrobe with quality pieces this year — and I’m excited to share some of those foundational staples with you! Today we’re chatting about the Spring 2017 Pantone Fashion Color Report and simple ways to translate seasonal colour trends into your personal style, Mom jeans (sorry… they’re not going anywhere), step hem denim, blush and pastel hues, basic tees, mini bags, a quintessential spring shoe, oversized shades (obviously!) and a beautiful, everyday lip!

Hey shoe lovers — welcome back for the second installment in my 2 part Winter 2017 Shoe Guide mini series dedicated to stylish, cold weather footwear! If you caught the first installment where I shared my favourite winter shoe basics, you’ll know that I’ve gone through a major shoe purge and refresh this season. In rebuilding my cold weather footwear wardrobe, I started with basics first — then I branched out the extras (you know, the fun stuff!). In today’s Winter 2017 Shoe Guide | Extras I’m chatting about 5 pairs of versatile statement shoes that add a unique edge to my outfits.
I’ve always been a fan of statement shoes (but you already know this!) and am a sucker for footwear featuring unique details, textures, colours and prints for its ability to completely elevate a simple outfit to something much more interesting and polished. If you have your basic winter footwear sorted and are looking for some offbeat or elevated options, or simply wanting to inject some extra style into your wardrobe as we transition for winter to spring, I’ve totally got you covered. Kick back with me tonight and learn more about my favourite affordable (most are on end-of-season clearance!) statement shoes — plus how to style them!
With the weather in Calgary being all sorts of unpredictable this year, I had originally planned to share this look with you earlier this autumn as the last installment in my Autumn Trend Guides. The intense cold snap we experienced a couple of weeks ago made shooting new style content outside almost impossible — but thankfully we experienced a few above 0℃ days earlier this week, so I jumped at the chance to get out there and snap a few photos. It actually worked out perfectly, since this last Trend Guide is all about transitioning some of autumns biggest trends into winter!
Today I’m sharing 10 of my favourite styles that are here to stay as temperatures drop — we’re talking novelty denim, metallics, block heels, mini bags, faux fur, pompoms, cold shoulders, velvet, longline and ultra dark, oversized shades! I’m also officially introducing you to Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2017, Greenery, and chatting about different ways to incorporate it into your personal style this season. If you’re ready to refresh your wardrobe for 2017 (or are looking for some holiday style inspiration), these are my top recommendations for trends that are here to stay!

Happy Canada Day, friends! I spent the day foraging our beautiful Alberta land for ingredients and shooting July’s DIGITAL BLOOMS — and I couldn’t think of a better way to spend the true north strong and free’s 153 Birthday! This month I wanted to commemorate the peaceful couple of weeks I’ve spent here at my childhood home in rural Alberta creating content by channeling inspiration from my surroundings into July 2020’s Digital Blooms, so you can enjoy a little bit of country tranquility, too! Despite all the flowers that are currently blooming here on our acreage, my favourite quintessential image of summertime in the country is a sea of tall, wild grasses dancing and swaying in the sunlight. It’s a comforting image that just feels like home — and it’s something I wanted to share with all of you!
This year our natural grasses seem more stunning that ever, spanning an array of golden, lavender, purple and green hues — and I harvested an assortment of Reed Canary Grass, Smooth Brome, Perennial Ryegrass, Crested Wheatgrass and Cheatgrass to create July 2020’s Digital Blooms! To switch things up and keep all materials for this free tech wallpaper authentic to the prairies, I also photographed the wild grasses on a piece of foraged barn board from an abandoned farmhouse just a few miles away (this is where all of the wooden backdrops you see here in the JustineCelina RECIPE section are from!). Hello, friends. How’s everyone doing? It’s certainly been a very transformative couple of weeks since my last post — and possibly, the most transformative of my lifetime. Given the state of the world, it simply didn’t feel right proceeding with regularly scheduled programming earlier this month. So last week, in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter anti-racism movement, I (like many other creators) muted my own content to create space to learn, unlearn, explore, amplify melanated voices and actively engage with anti-racism work. Rather than sharing my own content, I used this time to deep dive into some difficult topics, educate myself, reflect and process, have important conversations and create space for a very important discussion to take place. I amplified Black voices and the work of Black creators, artists and activists, as well as my learnings, on my Instagram Stories while pausing my social feed and blog posts. I can’t recall a period of time where I’ve ever learned or absorbed so much information — and I felt called to summarize it all for you here at JustineCelina in June 2020’s edition of DIGITAL BLOOMS.
June 2020’s Digital Blooms were created in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter civil rights uprising, using multi-coloured flowers foraged from blooming trees to form a raised fist signifying unity, diversity, support, strength and the power of change. Flowers have always brought me great joy, which was part of the reason I created my DIGITAL BLOOMS series nearly 5 years ago — a way to preserve nature’s seasonal beauty and offer each of you a piece of joy, too. My free floral tech wallpapers are often inspired by colour trends and current events — and it simply didn’t feel right to not translate the huge shift we’re collectively experiencing into this month’s edition. Although I’ll never be fully educated on the topic of anti-racism, I didn’t want that to stop me from using my platforms to take a stand against injustice and encourage you to do the same. Click through to download June 2020‘s tech wallpaper absolutely free — let it serve as a reminder of the unity our world is fighting for, as well as your and allyship and commitment to do the work necessary to end racism. JustineCelina stands for justice, freedom, oneness, love and equality. Silence is simply no longer an option — Black Lives Matter.

It’s finally starting to feel like spring here on the Alberta prairies — and I’m celebrating with some of my favourite seasonal flowers in May 2020’s edition of DIGITAL BLOOMS! This quintessentially spring design features creamy Ranunculus along with buttery yellow Butterfly Ranunculus (learn All About Ranunculus), white Hyacinths and refurled blush and white Tulips (learn All About Tulips) arranged with a whimsical touch.Infuse May’s cheerful, uplifting energy onto the background of your phone, tablet or computer this month with this free floral tech wallpaper I created just for you!
May 2020’s Digital Blooms are heavily inspired by a few hues from PANTONE’s Spring / Summer 2020 Colour Trend Report — Sunlight, Coral Pink and Brilliant White. Amidst the chaos of the world lately, I’ve been finding great comfort in simplicity and stripping things back to basics, which is reflected in this month’s DIGITAL BLOOMS. I hope May’s free tech wallpapers bring you some joy during this difficult time and invoke a sense of tranquility with each glance! Download this peaceful, pastel floral spring wallpaper straight to your devices while the flower shops are closed and carry the calming presence of my favourite spring blooms with you digitally. Stay well, friends!
