DIGITAL BLOOMS JANUARY 2019 | FREE DESKTOP WALLPAPER

Flower lovers, welcome back for the first post of 2018! Rebecca Dawn Design and I are kicking 2019 off with a fresh installment of DIGITAL BLOOMS celebrating the softer side of winter with a dreamy, neutral palette of blush, cream and sage juxtaposed with dramatic berry. We’re also dipping our toes into Pantone’s 2019 Colour of the Year, Living Coral — described as an animated and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge. Our beautiful Keira Garden Rose’s petals feature a kiss of this year’s hottest hue!

And now, for some blog housekeeping! In an effort to work smarter, streamline my workflows (more on this in an upcoming 2019 goals post) and keep my DIGITAL BLOOMS free, in 2019 I’ll be releasing one tech wallpaper each month here at JustineCelina, rather than the three I’ve offered previously. You can still expect this post on the first of each month, however, I’ll be focusing on creating three designs to represent each season. This January, the first of our WINTER free tech wallpaper includes stunning Keira Garden Roses (learn all about roses), Ranunculus (learn all about ranunculus), Blushing Bride Proteas and foraged berries. APARTMENT FRIENDLY MODERN HOLIDAY DECOR

Friends, I’m elated to finally share our Apartment Friendly Modern Holiday Decor with you today! If you’ve been following along with JustineCelina this past year, you’ll know we began refreshing our inner city Calgary apartment to create our dream home. We started from scratch with a fresh coat of paint, new furniture and new decor — and this year, I was so excited to decorate for the holidays for the first time in 6 years (we decorated fully for our first Christmas here… and never again!). Since we’re always out of town for the holidays (we split our time between our families homes in rural Alberta), I usually just save myself the extra time and effort and keep our holiday decor super minimal. Because we live in an apartment and have limited storage, the thought of hauling down a huge artificial tree from recesses of our entrance way closet and sorting through boxes of decor was simply never a priority during this busy month! But this year, I decided to sell all the old decor that no longer worked of us and start fresh (literally!) with our first real Christmas tree, tons of greenery and festive DIYs, plus all new holiday decor — and tonight I’m sharing every detail about how I pulled it all together!

If you’re a fan of mid century modern or more natural, earthy, bohemian elements, I’m sure you’ll agree that traditional holiday decor leaves a lot to be desired. I knew I wanted the look and feel of our holiday decor to be cohesive with our space and bring in lots of living greenery, warm neutrals, natural wood and stone textures, mixed metallic accents and free spirited, whimsical textures. I also wanted to incorporate a nod to vintage, mid-century inspired design while keeping a mixture of traditional and contemporary elements and cozy up the space with layers of faux fur, wool and chunky knits. After many HomeSense, Canadian Tire and plant / flower shop runs, I’m so pleased with the way our holiday home has come together and can’t wait to spend some downtime here as the year draws to a close! DIGITAL BLOOMS DECEMBER 2018 | FREE DESKTOP WALLPAPERS

It’s the most wonderful time of the year — and this December, Rebecca Dawn Design and I are here for all your festive, floral Free Tech Wallpapers needs with a very merry edition of DIGITAL BLOOMS! Each holiday season, we look forward to coming up with fresh festive inspiration, taking cues from current colour trends and the wintery seasonal blooms available to us. In year past we’ve gone moody and luxe and cool and crisp — but believe it or not, we’ve never actually gone classic and worked with red hues. So this year, we went semi-traditional with a palette of vibrant red, snowy white, sage green and deep berry, inspired by the familiar holiday hues present in Pantone’s Fall / Winter 2018 Colour Trend Report. For a bit of juxtaposition, we’ve gone really playful with our designs — this year, choose from a whimsical tree, jubilant wreath or playful snowman (he’s so cute!) to adorn your tech this holiday season!

DIGITAL BLOOMS NOVEMBER 2018 | FREE DESKTOP WALLPAPERS

Alright beautiful people, we’re back action! First things first, if you’ve been wondering why November’s DIGITAL BLOOMS are so delayed, please give my last post a read. To summarize: as a result of the massive tech nightmare I experienced over the past month, I lost about 4 months worth of edited imagery (my entire Lightroom catalogue from July 16th onward) — but I did have all my raw files backed up on an external hard drive. Thankfully, that meant our AW18 DIGITAL BLOOMS were safe and sound! While I still have a substantial amount of work to do to get back up and running at full capacity, I wanted to get November’s Free Tech Wallpapers out for you as soon as possible. Onwards and upwards!

This month, Rebecca Dawn Design and I have explored autumn’s moodier side by combining the rich jewel tones of foraged seasonal berries and classic fall Mums with a earthy melange of fall foliage, peppered with ethereal Thrytptomene flowers. Pantone’s Fall / Winter 2018 Colour Trend Report is still inspiring our floral and sartorial choices this season — but November has us lusting after Red Pear, Ceylon Yellow, Martini Olive, Russet Orange, Sargasso Sea, Almond Buff and Meerkat. INTERMISSION

Well hello, friends! If you don’t follow along with my Instagram Stories, you’re probably wondering where the heck I’ve been. It’s crazy to think it’s been over a month since I’ve posted — something I never envisioned would happen here at JustineCelina. And I promise it was never my intention to just abandon you guys and go MIA without an explanation. So, tonight I’m going to catch you up on everything that went down over the past month to contribute to my forced blogging break.

First things first, I’m okay. And thank you so much to all you kind souls who checked in on me or sent sweet messages while I was away. Although this past month has been incredibly challenging in every avenue of life, it’s also granted me a fresh perspective that I wouldn’t have otherwise gained without taking this unexpected step back — and for that I’m very grateful. This a long post — so if you’re curious about what been going on in my life lately and what you can expect from me moving forward, get cozy, pour yourself a glass of wine and settle in for a real, raw, lengthy read!

Who’s ready to deck their tech out for fall?! This month, Rebecca Dawn Design and I have incorporated a seasonal medley of autumn’s breathtaking tones and textures with an inspired assortment of fall foliage, produce and flowers in our October Free Tech Wallpapers! Never before in our 2 and a half years of creating monthly DIGITAL BLOOMS have we been able to catch the changing leaves at the peak of their beauty — we foraged Rebecca’s backyard for a fresh selection of seasonal goodness just before we shot our AW18 flower content and it was so much fun working with what nature provided for us. This cozy colour story is inspired by the sophisticated earthtones present in the Pantone Fall / Winter 2018 Colour Trend Report, including Red Pear, Valiant Poppy, Ceylon Yellow, Martini Olive, Russet Orange, Tofu, Almond Buff and Meerkat.

This October we’ve curated an earth toned assortment of Dahlias, Amaranthus, Sedum, Chrysanthemum Poms, Ornamental White Pumpkins, Crabapples, Hops and an array of leaves and berries foraged from our changing Calgary landscape.
