It’s Peony season and I bet you’re just as excited as we are! Peonies are some of our favourite flowers — so, to welcome the first month of summer here at JustineCelina, our June DIGITAL BLOOMS are dedicated to Peonies and flowering trees! The trees have finally started to blossom here in Calgary and this month we did a bit of urban foraging, capturing local Apple and Mayflower blossoms to compliment our stunning Coral Sunset and Snowball Peonies. Our 3 free June 2017 Free Desktop Wallpapers bring the best of our spring landscape straight to your tech so you can enjoy these gorgeous blooms all summer long!
The pink craze continues here at JustineCelina this month, as does the obsession with the Spring 2017 Pantone Fashion Color Report. This June, Rebeca Dawn Design and I are crazy for watercolour inspired hues of soft coral, warm violet and creamy white juxtaposed with fresh greens. We kept our designs simple to let the exquisite beauty of our Coral Sunset Peonies sing (seriously — have you ever seen a more beautiful flower?!). If you love Peonies and soft, pastel hues, click through to download June’s tech wallpapers to the background of your computer, tablet or phone — absolutely free!
Flowers
Many of us are bringing fresh flowers into our homes this spring — but despite our best care, all flowers eventually fade. Today I’ve teamed up with my friend and incredibly talented flower designer Rebecca Dawn Design to share an extremely simple (and extremely beautiful!) DIY Floating Spring Centrepiece — the perfect way to extend the life of blooms that are on their way out! All you need is a large serving bowl, fresh water and a handful of blooms — either repurposed from a less than youthful arrangement, or foraged from your garden! We’re covering everything you need to know to create a showstopping centrepiece to infuse any space with the fleeting beauty of spring blossoms — expert flower arranging skills not required.
You guessed it — we’re still drawing inspiration from Pantone’s spring palette and highlighting a melange of gorgeous spring blooms in soft shades of Pale Dogwood, Flame, Pink Yarrow, Hazelnut and (of course) a hint of the Colour of the Year for 2017, Greenery. Kick back with Rebecca and I tonight as we show you how to create this easy going, pastel hued centrepiece to adorn your coffee table, dining table, or enliven your al fresco entertaining this season!
Well, hello May! It’s time to welcome a new month here at JustineCelina with a fresh set of DIGITAL BLOOMS. To keep things interesting this spring, we’ve drawn our inspiration from the Spring 2017 Pantone Fashion Color Report and will be celebrating a new on trend hue each month this season! Last month we were obsessed with blush and neutral shades — but this May, it’s all about yellow. Yellow is one of this season’s biggest colour trends and one of my personal favourites to wear, so I had a blast translating this jubilant hue to our spring FLOWER content!
Today Rebecca Dawn Design and I are showcasing a spectrum of sunny yellow shades — from the softest buttercreams to the freshest lemons to the most vibrant canaries. Our 3 free May 2017 Free Desktop Wallpapers include Irises, Lisianthus, Tulips, Alstroemeria and Mini Stock Buds. We’re also celebrating early spring’s flowering trees with a playful, blooming branch inspired design. Spend some time with us today soaking in these mellow, yellow vibes and download May 2017’s Digital Blooms to enjoy spring’s bright, sunshiny blooms on the background of your computer, tablet or phone all month long!
My April 2017 Soundtrack is one of my favourite Monthly Soundtracks I’ve shared in quite awhile. I’m not sure what it was (being laid up at home for 10 days while my finger recovered probably had something to do with it!) but I was in such a musical mood this month and discovered so many incredible, inspiring artists along with way.
April’s Soundtrack is chill, happy and upbeat with lots of alternative, indie and electronic vibes — plus a healthy dose of folk and hip hop thrown in for good measure. There have been so many standout tracks on rotation this month, but Donovan Woods It’ll Work Itself Out, a really cool, stripped down remix of Don’t Dream It’s Over, Louis the Child and Elohim’s Love is Alive, Mating Ritual’s Cold, Chet Porter Chelsea Culter’s Stay, One Man Dancing’s Blank Page, Hollow Cove’s Coastline, RAC and Roastam’s This Song, Jessie Early’s Body Can’t Hold, Louis the Child and Ashe’s World on Fire, Utah’s No Coast, CLAVVS Silver Tongue, Paperwhite’s Human Nature, Fallen Roses and B dom’s Yours and Nobody Else’s, The Chainsmoker’s The One, Skrux’s Our Fragment, Goldroom’s Till Sunrise, Emmit Fenn’s Blinded, The 1975’s A Change of Heart, Rachel K Collier’s Paper Tiger, No Suits and Abhi The Nomad’s I’m Good and Stonefox’s Dreamstate sounded particularly good to my ears (I’m only about halfway through the playlist but I’ll park it there!). I can’t wait for you to hear them in this 5 hour, 82 song playlist!
Flower children, welcome back for another installment in our FLOWER EDUCATION series! Today Rebecca Dawn Design and I couldn’t be more excited to share this Blushing Spring Arrangement with you — it’s sweet, fragrant and right on trend Spring (nope, I’m not even close to being done with the Spring Pantone Fashion Color Report!). Although I love each of the arrangements and bouquets Rebecca and I create, I have to say — this one is my all time favourite!
Blush tones are a huge trend this spring and its been so much fun translating seasonal colour inspiration across categories. This season, blush, peach and neutral tones have been present in my BEAUTY content and I can’t stop wearing blush inspired neutrals at the moment (they’ll be popping up in my next FASHION post!). Not only are blush and neutral toned blooms perfectly on trend, but the exquisite variety of shades that mother natures provides for us each spring is truly nothing short of amazing. Embrace the season with us today as we chat about our favourite spring blooms and flowering branches in this Blushing Spring Arrangement — including dreamy, oversized Japanese Ranunculus, standard Ranunculus, Quicksand Roses, Lisianthus, Hyacinths and fragrant Magnolia branches hailing from Canada’s west coast! Rebecca also shares her expert flowering branch foraging and care tips to inspire you to enjoy the beauty of the season in your home this spring.
