I interrupt regularly scheduled programming to share the most exciting news, friends — our Living Room was featured on Apartment Therapy yesterday! To say I’m absolutely ecstatic to have our home featured on Apartment Therapy is a huge understatement. It was a dream of mine to be featured at Apartment Therapy years ago when our SPACE REFRESH was just an idea (and bit of a fantasy!). I had always envisioned the blog taking more of a home decor and interior design focus, but it’s been a long road to get there — and now, here we are! I’ve spent countless hours pouring over the gorgeous homes and endless inspiration Apartment Therapy provides since my art college days — and it’s completely surreal to now be featured among them and be recognized by such an iconic publication. I don’t typically publish blog posts dedicated to features (although I do I let you know about them on my socials and you can always catch them on my PRESS page), however, this one deserves an exception. I submitted our Living Room for consideration last month — knowing it was a long shot since we’re a) Canadian (they feature American homes prominently), b) it was just one room (they typically feature entire homes) and c) it was my first submission. To be honest, I’m still in shock!
My sincerest thank you to the team at Apartment Therapy for the beautiful feature and to my longtime partners, HomeSense Canada and Rebecca Dawn Design for embarking on this journey with me as I chase my passions and transition into more HOME based content this year — our space refresh wouldn’t be possible without their trust and support! It was a huge gamble making the transition this year as I had to really scale back on the content I produced in other categories to make our space refresh possible. It’s been an extreme labour of love (including many late nights, early mornings and countless sacrifices) and a challenging process to conjure up brand support, as home based content and interior design projects aren’t something I’d produced previously here at JustineCelina. But friends, this is just the beginning and I promise the best is yet to come! I hope you’re as excited as we are to continue our SPACE REFRESH journey — up next is our Kitchen / Dining area (publishing next month in partnership with HomeSense — be sure to tune in to my Insta Stories for a BTS look at how it’s coming together!). In the meantime, you can hop over to ApartmentTherapy.com for the full feature and some exclusive snaps of our Living Room! Also, hello to all you lovely people coming over from the feature — I’m thrilled to have you!
Happy sunny Monday, beautiful people! If it seemed a little quiet around here during the beginning of April, I was working in a few exciting projects BTS — this one included. I felt like the luckiest girl in the world being treated to An Afternoon at SAKS Fifth Avenue with Tourism Calgary — and today I’m thrilled to share my experience with you in my first post for VisitCalgary.com!
After what has quite possibly been the longest winter in Calgary’s history, I’m sure we’re all in need of a little pampering — am I right ladies and gents? If you’re anything like me, spring evokes the desire to refresh your wardrobe, beauty routine and skin in preparation for the balmier weather that lies ahead. Last month, I had the opportunity to indulge in the ultimate girls day at the newly opened, 115 000 square foot SAKS Fifth Avenue located in Calgary’s CF Chinook Centre — the first location in Western Canada. And today you can come along as I share each luxurious experience and thoughtful detail — including a beautiful champagne lunch, my own private shopping suite complete with personal styling services, a diverse selection of the hottest designer labels, exclusive cosmetic, skincare and fragrance brands and an ultra pampering facial in SAKS’ spa-like treatment rooms!
Happy Friday, everyone! You’ll find me celebrating with a glass of sparkling rosé in hand tonight — because I’m the Food Bloggers of Canada Featured Member this week! I’ve been a member of The Food Bloggers of Canada since the summer of 2015 and they’ve been instrumental in JustineCelina‘s development, growth and success over the past year and a half. I’ve mentioned FBC many times here on the blog and I’ve also introduced you to a handful of fellow FBC members who I’ve formed some incredible friendships with along the way. If you’re a food blogger (or a lifestyle blogger who blogs about food!) I encourage you to check The Food Bloggers of Canada out — this community is absolutely invaluable to me.
Whether you’re new to JustineCelina or a long time reader, you’ll probably learn something new about me in this feature! I answer questions about why I started blogging, my professional background, some of my favourite bloggers and recipes, where I draw inspiration and what’s next. A big thank you to The Food Bloggers of Canada for the feature and also to FBC’s extremely hard working founders, Melissa Hartfiel and Ethan Adeland for their continuous guidance, support, kindness and generosity! Cheers, everyone — I hope you enjoy the interview (and a great glass of rosé!).
I hope you guys aren’t getting sick of collaborative content, because today’s post is a collaboration with a good blogging chum of mine, Dana over at the pesco-vegetarian blog Killing Thyme. Dana’s blog may sound familiar because I’ve mentioned it a few times here at JustineCelina. First, I linked to her Caring for Cast Iron tips back in my Carrot Cashew Zoodles with Crispy Sesame Tofu post. She was also on board for our #FBCconnectingovercocktails collaboration, where I shared the recipe for my Rosé Lychee Elderflower Sangria and she created a delicious Pineapple Pepper Punch.
Dana and I met last year through The Food Bloggers of Canada and you could say we became fast blogging friends — we clicked right away. I love Dana’s zest for life that’s wildly apparent in her content, her voice and authenticity, her generosity, and of course, her fantastic recipes and culinary knowledge! You see, Dana has been at this whole blogging thing a lot longer than I have and she’s always been so supportive of what I’m doing. In short, she’s a an absolute gem and I’m sure you’ll love her content and her blog just as much as I do! Pop over to check out my guest post and grab the recipe for my Blueberry Lemon and Cucumber Gin Mojitos. Cheers to sharing the love, to new blogs and new friends!
Today’s post is something a little different! I’m excited to share a look inside my kitchen as part of the In Search of Yummyness In the Kitchen With Series. Shareba and I are both members of the Food Bloggers of Canada and we’ve always enjoyed keeping up with each other online. I was honoured when she asked me to be part of her new series, where she takes a look inside the kitchens of her favourite bloggers! You can hop over to her post for the interview, where she asks me things like what’s in my fridge, what I make for dinner on a hectic weekday, what I like to serve when I’m entertaining and what my favourite restaurants in Calgary are. I also let you in on some of my biggest recipe fails since I’ve started blogging! In my post today I’m sharing lots more photos of our space, so come hang out in my kitchen — I have snacks, flowers and chilled rosé!
