MAY 2017 SOUNDTRACK

Hey music lovers! Welcome back for another Monthly Soundtrack as we bid May adieu. I spent a lot of time in the mountains this month, between a last minute trip to Banff for Mother’s Day, to a wedding in Canmore and a Sunday spent exploring nature and enjoying this beautiful weather. I shot this month’s album cover on top of Sulphur Mountain, overlooking the Canadian Rockies!

My May 2017 Soundtrack is an eclectic mixture of feel good tunes with a sprinkle of hip hop thrown into the mix — so if you’re looking for a fresh playlist to kick off summer, I’ve totally got you covered today. A few standout tracks in this 2.5 hour, 41 track playlist include Valley’s Drive, Luna Shadows Waves, a really cool, stripped down rendition of Jimmy Eat World’s Sweetness by TeamMate, slenderbodies opal ocean, Phangs and R.L.UM.R’s Always Been U, Day Wave’s Bring You Down, Nick Leng’s Drivers, The Electric Sons Hold On, We’re Going Home, the entire Chainsmokers Memories…Do Not Open album, The Radio Dept.’s Pulling Our Weight, Marshmello and Omar LinX’s Keep It Mellow, Emir Duru’s Sunday, Glassio and Charles Fauna’s Morning House, Far Places In My Head, Brothertigers Listen, Alejandro’s Bury Me with My Gold and Jome’s appropriately titled Mountains. I hope your ears enjoy it!

APRIL 2017 SOUNDTRACK

My April 2017 Soundtrack is one of my favourite Monthly Soundtracks I’ve shared in quite awhile. I’m not sure what it was (being laid up at home for 10 days while my finger recovered probably had something to do with it!) but I was in such a musical mood this month and discovered so many incredible, inspiring artists along with way.

April’s Soundtrack is chill, happy and upbeat with lots of alternative, indie and electronic vibes — plus a healthy dose of folk and hip hop thrown in for good measure. There have been so many standout tracks on rotation this month, but Donovan Woods It’ll Work Itself Out, a really cool, stripped down remix of Don’t Dream It’s Over, Louis the Child and Elohim’s Love is Alive, Mating Ritual’s Cold, Chet Porter Chelsea Culter’s Stay, One Man Dancing’s Blank Page, Hollow Cove’s Coastline, RAC and Roastam’s This Song, Jessie Early’s Body Can’t Hold, Louis the Child and Ashe’s World on Fire, Utah’s No Coast, CLAVVS Silver Tongue, Paperwhite’s Human Nature, Fallen Roses and B dom’s Yours and Nobody Else’s, The Chainsmoker’s The One, Skrux’s Our Fragment, Goldroom’s Till Sunrise, Emmit Fenn’s Blinded, The 1975’s A Change of Heart, Rachel K Collier’s Paper Tiger, No Suits and Abhi The Nomad’s I’m Good and Stonefox’s Dreamstate sounded particularly good to my ears (I’m only about halfway through the playlist but I’ll park it there!). I can’t wait for you to hear them in this 5 hour, 82 song playlist!

MARCH 2017 SOUNDTRACK

Friends, it’s time for some fresh tunes! My March 2017 Soundtrack is short and sweet at just over 2 hours and 35 songs, so I’m going to follow suit with the introduction. March was a jam packed month with a bit of travel throw into the mix — and this soundtrack features a little bit of everything!

This month, Golden Coast’s Recess, Whethan and Ashe’s Can’t Hide, Only Your’s Living in the Moment, Kidwaste’s Time, Saavan’s Hide, ICELANDIA’s Stay, Ella Vos’s White Noise, SQRD’s Together, Living’s Glory, birthday’s Grown Up Kids, Jason Nolan’s The Offing, Melvv & Dana Williams Lifeline and Mesita’s Spiraling sounded especially good to my ears. I hope you enjoy this laid back, easy listening playlist!

FEBRUARY 2017 SOUNDTRACK

Are you looking for some fresh tunes as we transition into spring? My February 2017 Soundtrack has you covered with 3 and a half hours of upbeat alternative, indie, electronic, a little hip hop and some fresh new releases! I’ve been discovering most of my new music lately via Spotify’s Discover Weekly (a personalized playlist updated every Monday) and Release Radar (new releases based on your preferences updated every Friday) so there’s definitely been no shortage of new music here at JustineCelina headquarters! I also discovered Spotify’s Brain Food playlist, which features almost 6 hours of mellow electronic music — exactly what I like to listen to while I’m thinking, working and creating!

Standout tracks this month include Lost Boy Crow’s Stay a Little Longer, Marian Hill’s Down (which I also recognized in an Apple commercial towards the end of the month!), Big Wild and Tove Styrke’s Aftergold, Violet Day’s Your Girl, Khai’s Aberrant, Local Native + Charlotte Day Wilson’s Dark Days (Live at ACL), Geotic’s Actually Smiling, Bridget Kearney’s Wash Up, Sun Airway’s All In, Kidswaste + Chelsea Culter’s More Colours, Little Ocean’s Northern Eyes, Fracture’s Lowcast, pronoun + Funeral Advantage’s a million other things, Middle Kid’s Edge of Town, Flor’s Hold On, Alvvays Archie’s Marry Me, The Lumineer’s Cleopatra, The Chainsmokers + Coldplay’s Something Just Like This and General Crush’s Wide Escape (which I just discovered today!). Happy listening!

JANUARY 2017 SOUNDTRACK

Welcome back for the first installment of my 2017 Monthly Soundtracks here at JustineCelina! January was a reflective, low key, work-behind-the-scenes type of month for me, so January’s soundtrack is pretty mellow. I love to listen to feel-good, instrumental, electronic music when I’m thinking, working and creating — so if you’re looking for some fresh tunes to help inspire you creatively, give my January 2017 Soundtrack a listen!

Standout tracks this month include Mating Ritual’s How You Gonna Stop It?, Haarm’s In The Wild, Stalgia’s Heaven + Mimosas, Anna Renee’s What You Seek, Swim Team’s I’ll Always Come Back, Port Cities On The Nights You Stay Home, Chauncey Jack’s LZYMTHRFCKR, The Chainsmoker’s Paris, Infinitefreefall’s Beautiful People, Wush’s Wave, Vanshire’s Driftless, Recycle Jordan’s remix of Midnight to Monaco’s One Way Ticket, Funeral Advantage’s C.E.O.T.7.K., Zoology’s Negai, Flagship’s Mexican Jackpot, Chase McBride’s On the Other Side, The Dig’s Jet Black Hair and Utah’s SFSG. I also stumbled on Spotify’s Lush Vibes playlist and fell in love — it’s brimming with lush, hazy, chill, instrumental hip hop that allows to transport yourself to a tropical island (at least musically) this January!

DECEMBER SOUNDTRACK + BONUS 2016 SOUNDTRACK

To celebrate the last day of 2016, I have not one, but two fresh playlists for you today! First up, my December Soundtrack is a short and sweet playlist featuring 38 of my favourite tracks from the month — including standouts from St. South, Kultur, Trent Dabbs, Luunes, Freedom Fly, Micah Visser, Los Campesinos!, Zhu, San Holo, Saint Mesa and Celadon City. It’s an eclectic mash up of different genres that sounded good to my ears this month, with quite a few instrumental tracks thrown into the mix!

Spotify also compiled 2016 Soundtrack automatically for me earlier this month, highlighting my most played songs from 2016 (how cool is that?!) — and I have to say it’s pretty solid! If you’re looking for some great music to decorate the last hours of 2017 today, or my top recommendations for the best tracks of 2016, this playlist is for you. Whether you’re hosting or attending a party, heading out, or spending a quiet night in, I hope you all have a wonderful New Years Eve! Thank you for coming along on this crazy ride with me, I’m so grateful for each and every one of you.
