NOVEMBER SOUNDTRACK

I’m back with another monthly soundtrack for you today — is it just me or did November fly by?! November was packed full of so many exciting things, including a road trip to Jasper for Christmas in November, lots of work, photo shoots and blog projects that I’m excited to share with you soon! November’s Soundtrack is a bit shorter than most at just 50 tracks, so let me know what length you prefer for these playlists. I start them at the beginning of each month and add tracks as they catch my ear, so there’s never any rhyme or reason to the length!

A few standout tracks this month include this remix of Blood in the Cut, Lowell’s West Coast Forever, this awesome remix of Tracy Chapman’s Fast Car (that I discovered driving out to my childhood home in rural Alberta earlier this month!), Glass Gang’s Wild Light, Molly Marlette’s Do Me a Favor, Matt DiMona’s The Universe We Dreamt, pronoun’s just cuz you can’t, Day Wave’s Wasting Time, SteHouse & Nick Leng’s Been So Long, Kirty’s Get To You, Oliver Tank’s Swerve, Sure Sure’s Fat Lady, pronoun’s snowed in // there’s no one new around you, Oscuro’s All In My Mind and Blonde Maze’s Antarctica. If you’re looking for some new music as we roll into December, give my November Soundtrack a listen!

I’m so excited to share the first post in a of a series of AUTUMN 2016 TREND GUIDES here at JustineCelina, where I’m breaking down this seasons biggest trends and showing you how to wear them! I’ve mentioned previously that fall is my favourite time of year for many reasons and fashion in definitely one of them. SEPTEMBER SOUNDTRACK

Who’s ready for a fresh new playlist to welcome autumn? My September Soundtrack has you covered with just under 4 hours of new tunes! September was a really busy month for me and I’m constantly listening to music while I’m working on various projects — this has been my background music all month long and it’s also the music that’s been playing in my Instagram Stories if you’ve been following along! It’s great music to work, think and create to. A few standout tracks this month include a really dreamy, stripped down cover of The Smashing Pumpkin’s 1979 (my name is the lyrics!), Kasbo’s remix of Mutemath’s Monument, MOOD ROBOT’s Ghost, Attom & Ciele’s Afterglow, Softer Still’s New Age, Bird Passenger’s Cabin Fever, Zammuto’s My Dog’s Eyes and Bon Iver’s new track 33 “GOD” (I could go on!). I’ve also included a few other tracks from MOOD ROBOT — I’m a huge fan of their sound and all of their albums! Come hang out for awhile and treat your ears to 58 fresh tracks this fall.

A MINI MOUNTAIN GETAWAY

If you’ve been following along on social media, you may have read or heard a few times how exhausted I was feeling at the end of last week. There are some incredibly exciting things happening behind the scenes right now that can’t wait to share with you soon — but it’s been a ton of work getting them off the ground! I’ve mentioned previously that I’m a major workaholic (I absolutely love what I do!) and sometimes it can get the better of me. I’m definitely more mindful of it these days since balance is something I seem to be constantly pursuing. It can be really difficult for me to step away from my work — especially since I find myself really getting in a groove creatively and wanting to keep up the momentum. But, as I’ve also mentioned previously, I need to remember that while consistency is important in producing great creative work, so is taking care of myself so I can stay inspired and not completely burn out (which I was on the verge of last week). I’m sure many of you fellow creatives can relate!

So, I took this weekend to rejuvenate and rescheduled every commitment I had. Friday evening we grabbed sushi and wine at our favourite place (Kabuku downtown if any of you Calgarians are wondering), gave each other massages set to spa music and went to bed before midnight (yes I know, we’re old). Saturday I chatted with my oldest friend on the phone for 2 hours, caught up on some housework, blog work and basic R&R. I’m talking skipping my daily HIIT workout and doing research for upcoming projects and content from bed with a big cup of freshly ground, french pressed coffee and a big messy bun — and not getting out of my pyjamas until I took an amazing, 45 minute shower (I actually had time to wash my hair!). I even did a face mask, which I used to do every Sunday evening, but sadly haven’t had the energy for lately. On Sunday, we decided to make the most of this beautiful, early autumn weather and head west towards the Rocky Mountains for a wine picnic. I hope you enjoy coming along with us in this photo diary of our Mini Mountain Getaway!
