ROSE INFUSED CHERRY GIN FIZZ + CRAFT GIN GIVEAWAY! (NOW CLOSED)

Remember the summer I acquired a taste for gin? It’s since become my favourite spirit. In fact, around this time last year I even ventured to Vancouver Island to track down an infamous local gin unavailable in Alberta (I also made a cocktail with that one!). Although the gin I brought home from my coastal travels is long gone, late last year I stumbled on Eau Claire Distillery via Instagram (their bottles are gorgeous and totally drew me in!). Imagine my surprise to find out we have an incredible, award winning distillery less than an hour from home! Over the holidays I took a trip to the visit their distillery in Turner Valley with my Mom (who loves gin) and my brother (who was home from New York and loves cocktails) for a tour and tasting — and we were all completely blown away by the quality of Eau Claire’s hand crafted offerings and their farm to glass approach. Now that I know they exist (and they’re local!) I actually can’t fathom using anything else in my cocktails! Over the last couple of months, we’ve padded our bar with several of Eau Claire’s artisinal spirits — including their most recent offering, Cherry Gin.

In honour of love day, I’m so excited to share my Rose Infused Cherry Gin Fizz! This feminine, fruity and lightly floral cocktail combines Eau Claire’s stunning Cherry Gin with my favourite Prosecco, a splash of fresh lemon juice and a Rose & Pink Peppercorn Infused Honey Simple Syrup for a contemporary spin on the classic French 75. My Rose Infused Cherry Gin Fizz is a beautiful addition to your Valentine’s Day menu, but can be enjoyed anytime you want to indulge in a gourmet craft cocktail at home! As always, it’s is free of dairy, gluten and refined sugar — and bursting with fruity flavours, floral undertones, unique botanicals and a refreshing effervescence. The best part? Eau Claire is helping me share the love this Valentine’s Day by giving away a Cherry Gin Cocktail Caddy valued at $99 to one of my Canadian friends — check out the bottom of the post for details on how to enter! DIGITAL BLOOMS FEBRUARY 2018 | FREE DESKTOP WALLPAPERS

Hey, hey flower friends! After my last post, I’m very excited to get some more lighthearted content out today! Love month is upon us — and Rebecca Dawn Design are celebrating the best way we know how — by sharing 3 free, Valentine’s Day inspired floral tech wallpapers with you! Last February, we created a special Love Edition set of DIGITAL BLOOMS prominently featuring roses — and they’ve become our most downloaded set to date. Due to overwhelming popularity, we’re keeping the love inspired theme going this year — but we’re working with more than just roses! This February, we’re combined a beautiful array of Spray Roses (learn more about them here), Panda Anemones, Dahlias, Astilbe, Astrantia, Ruby Silk Grass, Thrytptomene and Blushing Bride blooms in a dreamy, pastel palette.

As you’ve probably read, I’ve embraced the Pantone Spring 2018 Colour Trend Report this year and am feeling so inspired by blush shades and spring pastels (there will definitely be a theme here at JustineCelina this month!). For February, we’re crushing on Pink Lavender, Blooming Dahlia, Almost Mauve, Spring Crocus and Coconut Milk punctuated by Sailor Blue. Summon spring and enjoy our second DIGITAL BLOOMS Love Edition on the background of your computer, tablet or phone all month long by clicking though to choose from 3 free tech wallpapers! DECEMBER 2017 SOUNDTRACK + BONUS 2017 SOUNDTRACK

To send the last day of 2017 off in style, I have not one, but two fresh playlists for you today, friends! First up, my December Soundtrack — an eclectic, chill playlist featuring 45 of my favourite tracks from the month. Standouts include XYLØ’s Alive, Half an Orange’s Downtown, Bien’s Crowd Goes Wild, Brett’s Emperor Tho, Sundrenched’s Doesn’t Really Matter Honestly, Handsome Ghost’s Reckless Lover, a lovely, electronic rendition of The Shins New Slang, Bearson and Natalola’s One Step at a Time, DMX and Divine Bar’s Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer (a ridiculous song that we had on repeat during holiday parties!), Kasbo’s Snow in Gothenburg, MIA GLADSTONE’s Hold It Down, Koresma’s Fork in the Road, Garden City Movement’s Slightly All The Time and The Kite String Tangle’s The Devil You Know.

If you’re in need of even more fresh tunes, Spotify also compiled 2017 Soundtrack automatically for me earlier this month, including my 100 most played songs from 2017 (how cool is that?!) — and I have to say it’s pretty solid! If you’re looking for some easy listening music to decorate the last hours of 2017, this playlist is for you. Whatever you get up to tonight, I hope you all have a wonderful and safe New Years Eve! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to each and every one of you for the time you’ve spent here at JustineCelina this year. Your continued support truly means the world to me and I couldn’t do this without you! Happy New Year and cheers to 2018!

DIY | HOW TO MAKE AN ASYMMETRICAL HOLIDAY WREATH

To kick off December, I had the pleasure of attending a wreath making workshop with the lovely and talented Rebecca Dawn Design. The wine and holiday cheer were flowing — and between all the eating, drinking and being merry, I created this Asymmetrical Holiday Wreath! I took you along via Insta Stories and after lots of questions and comments about the process, I finally had some time to photograph the wreath and publish a DIY post for you (better late than never, right?!). If you have an hour to spare, you too can create this modern, Scandinavian style holiday wreath with a handful of inexpensive, easy to source materials! They also make a lovely hostess gift if you’re looking for last minute ideas with a handmade, personal touch.

This year, I’ve definitely taken a more minimalistic approach to the holidays and decorating. Since my main focus these past few months has been refreshing our living room (stay tuned for the reveal in the New Year!) and we’re out of town visiting family for the holidays, we didn’t even set up a tree! Instead we decorated our new Bird of Paradise plant with a few twinkling lights, added some cotton stems to our vases and hung this Asymmetrical Holiday Wreath! If you’re looking for a simple DIY to add a festive touch to your minimalistic decor this holiday season, a fresh wreath is the perfect addition. Our home is brimming with greenery and lots of natural wood textures with a mid century modern vibe — so I selected Cedar, Pine, Brunia, Eucalyptus pods, Red Ironbark Eucalyptus and Magnolia Leaves for our wreath (it’s also makes the living room smell amazing — no tree required!). If you’d like to learn how to make an Asymmetrical Holiday Wreath of your own, throw on your favourite Christmas playlist, settle in with a glass of your favourite festive beverage (may I suggest Classic Winter Citrus Red Sangria?) and let’s get started!

MY SECRET FOR HOLIDAY READY SKIN

As a skincare advocate, it was only a matter of time before I tip-toed into the world of medical aesthetics. I’m truly passionate about skincare (I’m writing this post wearing a face mask!) — it’s something I’m asked about almost daily, both in real life and online. SKINCARE posts are some of my most popular content here at JustineCelina as well! As a woman now in her 30’s who’s been on a mission to educate herself about skincare over the last 5 years as I embarked on my journey to healthy, happy skin (read more about my story and routine) I’ve become increasingly intrigued by the world of cosmetic medicine. So when INLIV invited me to their open house to learn more about their company and full circle approach to health, wellness and medical aesthetics, I jumped at the opportunity! Those of you who follow along with my Insta Stories may even remember coming along (and that live Botox demonstration we sat in on!). You may also know I’ve been trying some new things in the skincare department over the past few months to help my skin look and feel its best — and today I’m sharing what’s worked and what hasn’t!

This weekend I’m thrilled to partner with INLIV to bring you my first experience with medical aesthetics and My Secret For Holiday Ready Skin — professional microdermabrasion! If you, too are curious about the world of cosmetic medicine but aren’t sure where to start, I’m so happy you’re here! Come along with me to INLIV’s gorgeous space here in Calgary, Alberta as I share every detail of my experience — the facility, the equipment, the treatment, my results and what to expect from a professional microdermabrasion. If your winter complexion could use a little extra sparkle just in time for the holidays, microdermabrasion is a quick, affordable, non invasive option with no downtime. I’ve been absolutely loving my results!

WHAT TO WEAR TO | CASUAL HOLIDAY PARTIES

It’s mid December and the holiday party season is in full swing, so I thought it was the perfect time to share a new post in my WHAT TO WEAR TO series — this time, to Casual Holiday Parties! I’m all about comfortable, laid back holiday looks remixing pieces from my existing wardrobe. This season, I’ve picked up a couple of new, trendier accessories to refresh my old favourites — and I’m so excited to share my finds with you! I actually wore this exact outfit to a restaurant opening on Steven Avenue (where we came back to shoot this post) last month and had tons of compliments and questions about it — a few women mentioned wanting to wear something similar to their holiday parties this year! And so this post idea was born. The best part is I put this look together with pieces I already owned — although my boots and hat are newer purchases from earlier this season!

Today I’m chatting about What To Wear To | Casual Holiday Parties and sharing a few of my favourite versatile, cool weather staples you can style a million different ways — during this festive season and beyond! If you’re attending a laid back holiday celebration this year and want to dress up a little without going full on glam (or buying an entirely new outfit), this post is for you! Come hang out for some tips on how get creative and shop your closet for items, fabrics and patterns you may not necessarily think to wear during the holidays — including pleated maxi skirts, velvet, baker boy caps, cross body bags, sock boots, checks and wool coats. And if you are on the hunt for a few key pieces to refresh your winter staples for 2017, I’ve included tons of shoppable links for you at every price point! Let’s all eat, drink and be merry in style this season!

CLASSIC WINTER CITRUS RED SANGRIA

Remember when I mentioned all the seasonal recipes I have in my backlog? Well, today I’m finally publishing the very first sangria recipe I ever developed — almost 10 years ago (yikes!). I honestly can’t even tell you how many times I’ve made this Classic Winter Citrus Red Sangria with friends and family over the years, but I bet it’s more than 50. In fact, it was this recipe that inspired my sangria craze — it’s the original! It was singlehandedly responsible for a large portion of my 20’s being a bit hazy and escalating some of my favourite entertaining memories (or lack there of!) in our first homes over the years! This classic red sangria never fails to get the party started (now that’s the understatement of the century!) and is my all time favourite beverage to make when we’re hosting or attending a party, especially during the cooler months. It’s absolutely delicious and approved by friends, moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas, cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and inlaws — even the non-wine drinkers rave about it! So, I figured it was finally time to unleash the recipe on the world — however, I will not be held liable for any life altering hangovers that ensue after a few too many glasses (hey, it goes down easy — consider yourself warned!).

My Classic Winter Citrus Red Sangria is the quintessential holiday cocktail, marrying fruity zinfandel and apricot brandy with festive, seasonal flavours of satsuma, lime, lemon, pomegranate and a hint of cozy cinnamon. This better-for-you holiday cocktail is free of added sugar and brimming with clean, plant based ingredients plus a mega dose of antioxidants. If you love to entertain, this simple, jubilant sangria will leave your guests feeling merry and bright! And to help spread some holiday cheer, my Connecting Over Cocktails crew and I are back at it again — and this time, we’re thrilled to bring you our Holiday Edition. If you’re planning a festive celebration and looking to take the party up a notch this year, check out the bottom of this post for 5 gorgeous, seasonal sips from a handful of my favourite cocktail connoisseurs!
