NOVEMBER 2019 SOUNDTRACK

Music lovers, I’m back today with a fresh Monthly Soundtrack for your listening pleasure! My November 2019 Soundtrack is a laid back, easy listening playlist brimming with 2 hours of eclectic and inspiring tunes spanning genres that have been fuelling my creative endeavours this month! I’m also still on a bit of a jazz kick — there’s something about cold weather and the approaching holiday season makes jazz sound so good (especially in front of the fireplace with a glass of your favourite libation!). As 2019 winds down I’ve been busy finishing up various projects while gearing up for the holiday season — and I’ve had this playlist on heavy rotation. FALL HARVEST BOWLS WITH CREAMY POPPYSEED DRESSING

As autumn comes to a close and the holiday season approaches, I’m back today with my Fall Harvest Bowls with Creamy Poppyseed Dressing — an inventive vegan entrée that combines some of my favourite seasonal ingredients in a nutritious, protein packed bowl! Although it’s been awhile since I’ve published a SALAD or BOWL recipe here at JustineCelina, if you follow along with my Stories, you’ve undoubtedly seen me whip these up almost weekly over the past few months. This recipe was originally conceived back in August when I was yearning for my first taste of fall flavours — and after many rounds of testing to make sure it was just right, I’m eager to share the perfected recipe with you!

My Fall Harvest Bowls with Creamy Poppyseed Dressing are an ultra nourishing, 30 minute vegan meal that beautifully showcase seasonal produce and pantry staples, but can be enjoyed year-round. A bed of baby spinach and arugula houses a hearty melange of black glutinous rice, chick peas, fresh apples and shredded carrots — topped off with a tanini-based Creamy Poppyseed Dressing, dried cranberries and roasted pecans. If you’re into meal prepping, you can also whip up a large batch of rice and multiple batches of dressing on the weekend — and have healthy, effortless weekday dinners and hearty lunch options sorted for the week. AUTUMN 2019 LOOKBOOK

We’re deep into autumn here in Calgary and I’m back to share what I’ve been wearing in this 6 outfit Autumn 2019 Lookbook! Over the past couple of months we’ve been working on capturing style content more seamlessly in our day-to-day lives, popping out to shoot what I’m wearing whenever (and wherever) we have a couple of free hours — and it’s been working out well! In September I also experimented with publishing a 6 outfit LOOKBOOK to celebrate the transition of summer to autumn (my favourite time of year!) and I really enjoyed that process. Although I committed to producing one, 12 outfit seasonal LOOKBOOK here at JustineCelina at the beginning of the year, I find that the weather changes so quickly (and drastically) here in Calgary it can be a completely different season from the time I start working on a 12 outfit LOOKBOOK to the time I actually publish it (they’re at least a month in the making!). So, for the remainder of the year, I’m excited to announce I’ll be producing 6 outfit LOOKBOOKS with quicker turn around times, to more accurately depict what I’m wearing for each micro-season!

My Autumn 2019 Lookbook features 6 of my favourite fall looks that have carried me from chinooks through snow storms in style! Autumn weather in Calgary is extremely erratic — and over the years I’ve actually really come to enjoy the challenge of dressing for it. As always, you can expect a mash-up of high, low, old, new and vintage in my Autumn 2019 Lookbook — plus my take on this season’s hottest trends, colours, patterns and silhouettes adapted to both personal and professional settings. VIOLETTE NOIR BERRY SANGRIA

Just ahead of the holiday season, I’m thrilled to bring my sixth sangria recipe to JustineCelina today (if you’re new here, why yes, I adore sangria!). In years past, I’ve shared my tried and true recipes created with wine and spirits you would traditionally associate with sangria — but over the years as I honed my mixology skills I’ve also become just as passionate about craft cocktails. Now that I have a well-rounded baseline of sangria and cocktail recipes to work from, I find myself drawn to more creative and interesting ingredient combinations and flavour profiles — and that’s exactly how the idea for my Violette Noir Berry Sangria was born! Although I have a Classic Winter Citrus Red Sangria (my original sangria recipe that inspired all the others!), I’d always wanted to develop a berry-forward sangria using less conventional grapes and liqueurs. So this summer, I got to work using some of the more elusive ingredients in our bar — and today I’m finally sharing the recipe, after 6 months of extensive testing!

My Violette Noir Berry Sangria is a dramatic, berry-infused libation where bold, luscious flavours of raspberry-laden Chambord, floral Crème de Violette, juicy blackberry and a fresh kiss of citrus intertwine over an elegant Pinot Noir backdrop. This sophisticated, Parisian-inspired spin on traditional red sangria is as intricate as it is accessible — seducing both wine lovers and skeptics with each delicious, antioxidant-rich sip. It’s the ideal accompaniment to festive cocktail parties, formal occasions, holiday dinners or anytime you’re craving a refined, wine-based bracer to delight and surprise even the most discerning of palettes! As always, my Violette Noir Berry Sangria brimming with fresh, better-for-you ingredients and is free of added sugars — because I believe in balance in all areas of life. OCTOBER 2019 SOUNDTRACK

How is it the end of October?! Another month has flown by — and that means it’s time for another Monthly Soundtrack here at JustineCelina! October was full of lots of BTS work fall content (including our Entrance Way Reveal!) — and these ultra chill, jazzy tunes are what kept me going. My October 2019 Soundtrack is a short n’ sweet 30 track playlist full of ultra chill, mostly instrumental tunes. I discovered Andrew Applepie’s Six Chill Beats EP along with Spotify’s Jazz Vibes playlist this month and I pretty much listened to them on-repeat — honestly, I could have added every single track! SPACE REFRESH | ENTRANCE WAY REVEAL

Welcome back for the next highly anticipated reveal in our SPACE REFRESH series, friends! This project has been a year in the making — and today, in partnership with Mobilia Canada, I’m elated to bring you our refreshed Entrance Way! By far, this has been the most challenging room in our SPACE REFRESH series to date. Although it’s responsible for the first impression upon opening the door to our home, it was anything but welcoming before we embarked on this journey back in November of 2018. In stark contrast to the expansive, airy, natural-light-filled rooms you’re used to seeing on these pages, our Entrance Way was exactly the opposite — dark and choppy with just a speck of natural light (just wait until you see the BEFORE photos!). In fact, when we first viewed this apartment before purchasing it 7 years ago, I nearly turned around and walked out — but I’m so glad I didn’t!

You see, all those bright, south-facing, beautifully lit living areas, bedrooms and offices were just past the dimly lit Entrance Way, down a couple of long hallways — which is typical of apartment floor plans. Despite its shortcomings, I was determined we could achieve the welcoming first impression I’d always dreamt of by transforming this space into a bright, welcoming, functional room that felt cohesive with the rest of the apartment. Our Space Refresh | Entrance Way Reveal is a complete overhaul — from a fresh coat of paint, to new light fixtures, to gorgeous new furniture (generously provided by Mobilia), to decor and even a few DIYs! If you have an awkward, uninspiring room in your home in desperate need of a makeover and are searching for some fresh ideas, you’ve come to the right place! Today I’m detailing the entire design process from mood boarding to paint and furniture selection, sprinkled with all my best small-space, storage maximizing tips. So although you may already be familiar with our home, I’d like to formally welcome to our bohemian-meets-mid-century, inner city apartment — may I take your coat?
