WINTER 2018 TREND GUIDE | RED HOT

Fellow fashionistas, welcome back for the first TREND GUIDE of 2018! If the new year has you itching to upgrade your personal style or educate yourself about what’s hot this winter, you’ve come to the right place! Today I’m styling a handful of my favourite winter-to-spring trends in a colourful, artistic look — including red, chenille, berets, circular details, distressed hems and sock boots (I marched right into 2018 wearing my favourite pair!). I’m also sharing some of my favourite cold weather beauty staples and a look ahead at spring colour trends as forecasted by Pantone (because although it’s a new year, some things never change!).

It’s rare that I publish dedicated review posts, but every once in awhile I fall so hard for a product that I know I just have to share it with all of you! Such is the case with the Marc Jacobs Beauty Le Marc Liquid Lip Crèmes — a newer range of comfortable (yes, really), lightweight, ultra pigmented, extremely luxurious liquid lipsticks. Sound too good to be true? I promise you, it isn’t. You may remember me introducing them to you initially in my Spring 2017 Beauty Trend Guide — and since then, I’ve become completely smitten!

For me, spring is synonymous with experimentation — especially in the beauty department! It’s a time when I feel inspired to refresh my makeup routine, go lighter and brighter, try new trends and explore new colours, finishes and formulas. MILITARY INSPIRED

What better time to photograph a style post than during a heavy snowfall / extreme cold warning when you’re snowed in in the country… right?! I headed east to my childhood home in rural Alberta this past weekend and took the snowstorm as a perfect opportunity to shoot this Military Inspired look in the crisp white serenity of the prairies. It was a bit chilly, but these photos made it all worthwhile!

While the most of the world is gearing up for spring, arctic Canadian weather is still alive and well here in Alberta and February can often be our coldest month. As such, I’m a big fan of the statement coat — especially during the winter when your outerwear is your outfit. While I’ve always loved Military Inspired styles (this jacket is about 6 years old!) I was thrilled to see a resurgence of the military trend this winter — and today I’m showing you how to wear it! I’ve paired a classic Military Inspired statement coat with luxe winter accessories in a few of my favourite cold weather textures including faux fur and velvet. I truly believe a well constructed, Military Inspired coat is a timeless piece and a fantastic addition to dress up any winter wardrobe!

There’s a good chance that if you read my blog, you love lipstick just as much as I do. BITE BEAUTY AMUSE BOUCHE LIPSTICKS PHOTOS, REVIEW, SWATCHES

It’s been awhile since I reviewed some new products from one of my favourite high end makeup brands Bite Beauty. So today I’m excited to bring you a review of 3 summery shades from their most recent launch — the Amuse Bouche Lipstick range. If you’re not familiar with Bite, they’re a Canadian lip-exclusive brand who’s products are made with natural, food grade ingredients that are actually good for your lips. Bite Beauty used to make my all time favourite lipstick formula, the Luminous Crème Lipsticks. I also introduced so many of you to Bite products last year — I love it when you leave comments, send me messages or tag me in photos wearing my product recommendations!

Imagine my dismay when I heard Bite was discontinuing the Luminous Crème Lipsticks earlier this year (do anyone else’s favourite products always seem to get discontinued?!). When I discovered they were replacing the Luminous Crème Lipsticks with a new lipstick line called Amuse Bouche I was intrigued — and a bit skeptical, to be honest! I’m happy to report that I love Bite’s Amuse Bouche Lipsticks just as much (if not a little better!) than their predecessor, my beloved Luminous Crème Lipsticks.
