There’s nothing like going through your whole makeup stash for a yearly beauty favourites post to discover some new favourites and inspire you! In January I was all over the map in terms of the colours I wore, and it was a very experimental month for me, makeup wise. Since I come from an artistic background (if you didn’t know, I went to art college), I approach my makeup like I would a painting or drawing — I’m just painting and drawing on my face! I’ve always loved beauty so much because it’s a way for me to combine my passions. Like fashion, it’s a form of self-expression for me. I was the little girl who was always playing around in my Mom’s makeup, and giving friends makeovers during my adolescence! My January 2016 Beauty Favourites are full of rich, warm shades, violets and rosy hues. I also discovered a very natural-looking, gradual self tanner that gives you a the perfect amount of colour for winter!

November was a pretty low-key month for me, beauty wise. I discovered a few new products, but in colours that I know work for me. Otherwise, I’ve been sticking to what I know — which is what tends to happen when I’m super busy.
In November I got my glow on, rediscovered my signature winter scent, found a game changing pair of tweezers, an eyeshadow that makes simple smokey eyes a breeze, a no fuss nude lipstick for winter, and the most flattering liquid lipstick, ever! Today I’m chatting about my latest beauty obsession — the new Ultra Matte Lips from Colourpop! Currently there are 33 shades available, and I decided to pick up 10 from the range to try out. Colourpop’s Ultra Matte Lips retail at $6.00 USD for 0.11 oz., just a fraction of the cost of their high-end counterparts. Lately, it seems like every brand is coming out with their version of a liquid lipstick, and I’m generally a fan of liquid lipstick formulas — they dry to a flat matte finish and are super long wearing. I gravitated towards bright, warm hues during the month of June! Since I’ve been doing a lot of sunless tanning this month, my favourite products look great on medium and tan summer skintones. One of my all time favourite looks is a bright lip with tan skin and a clean cat eye — I wore a bright lip pretty much everyday I wore makeup.
My love affair with Colourpop continued, and I also have two favourites from Becca this month. I went back to my all-time favourite liquid eyeliner (which makes it super easy to achieve a perfect winged liner, I promise!). Get ready for a healthy dose of summer beauty recommendations!
It’s that time of the month again (well, not that time of the month… but you know what I mean)! May was a mix of new finds and old favourites that I rediscovered — and they’re mostly at a drugstore price point. I also attended a few parties and weddings this month, and finally found the perfect lashes and lash glue! Fall is my favourite time of year for many reasons — but something I look forward to each year is pulling out all my favourite warm, cozy lip colours (and trying a few new ones!) to mark the change in seasons. Last autumn as I was organizing my vanity for the season, I noticed a major theme — all of my most-worn autumn lip colours had a very similar, pumpkin spice inspired colour story (yes, I actually began working on My Top 5 Pumpkin Spice Lipsticks post last fall!). Although I may be the only woman on the planet who isn’t into Pumpkin Spice Lattes (shocking, I know!), I can definitely appreciate the inspiration behind this quintessentially autumnal beverage. I absolutely love to embrace each season as fully as possible — whether it be in my personal style, beauty routine, home or what I choose to nourish my body with. While a lot has changed in 2020, my love of fall beauty remains — and although I’m not wearing as much makeup as I did pre-pandemic (or getting glammed up nearly as often), I still love to treat myself to a beautiful, seasonal makeup application for an instant confidence boost.
