DIGITAL BLOOMS SEPTEMBER 2018 | FREE DESKTOP WALLPAPERS

Hello, September! Eager to embrace autumn’s arrival later this month while fully enjoying the last days of summer, Rebecca Dawn Design and I have blended the best of both seasons in this month’s Free Tech Wallpapers! September’s DIGITAL BLOOMS are heavily inspired by the Pantone Fall / Winter 2018 Colour Trend Report (expect to hear a lot more about it here at JustineCelina over the next few months), arranged with a whimsical touch. Working with a rich transitional palette of Red Pear, Ultra Violet, Russet Orange, Limelight, Sargasso Sea, Tofu and Quiet Grey, we created 3 floral designs that bridge the gap between my two favourite seasons beautifully!

This month, you’ll find a few of our all time favourite flowers at play — including Ranunculus (which all about them here!), Garden Roses and Anemones (learn all about them here), complimented by a peppering of fresh Scabiosa and velvety Dusty Miller. AUGUST 2018 SOUNDTRACK

Like the final, fleeting month of summer, my August 2018 Soundtrack is short n’ sweet! August was full of a lot of BTS hustle (I have so many exciting projects, collaborations and fresh content to share with you this autumn!), but also a lot of time outdoors enjoying our beautiful weather, wildfire smoke and all! If you follow along with my RECIPES here at JustineCelina, you may remember that I mentioned we found a patch of saskatoon bushes growing wild next to a field of canola earlier this summer — well, this is the field of canola! While typically we shoot our annual canola photos in the field behind my childhood home in rural Alberta, this summer they planted a different crop, so we headed south in search of blooming yellow fields and hit the jackpot!

While the canola crops have since been harvested, they always bloom around my birthday in early August and it’s my favourite time of year! I thought this image was the perfect album cover for my August Soundtrack — inspired by carefree summer days, roadtrips, outdoor adventures and the mesmerizing beauty of our natural landscape. WHAT TO WEAR TO | A HORSE RACE

Welcome back, friends and fashionistas! Today I’ve teamed up with Saks OFF 5TH to bring you a fresh post in my WHAT TO WEAR TO series dedicated to Horse Races — and to announce the Grand Opening of their second location at CF Market Mall! Earlier this summer we had the pleasure of attending Packwood Grand and to be honest, the sartorial aspect of the race excited me much more than the main event! Longtime readers will know I love any excuse to dress up and dress well (which is part of the reason I created my WHAT TO WEAR TO series in the first place!), so I took this unique event as an opportunity to deep dive into horse race appropriate attire and put my own unique spin on the dress code! After hunting for the perfect gingham dress for what seemed like an eternity, low and behold, I found it on Saks OFF 5TH‘s Calvin Klein rack — at just over 50% off, ringing in at $74.99! I’ve always been a fan of gingham and although it’s very on trend at the moment, it’s also a timeless print that lends itself to more traditional occasions and settings. Shoe lovers, I’m elated to bring you the first 2018 installment of my SHOE GUIDE series! SUMMER BOUNTY SALAD WITH SASKATOON CIDER VINAIGRETTE

Welcome back for another seasonally inspired RECIPE, beautiful people! I’m currently typing to you from my impromptu outdoor office at my childhood home in rural Alberta on this gorgeous August afternoon. The bees are buzzing, the butterflies are fluttering and the sweet scents of summer crops are lingering on the country air — it’s the ideal setting to publish my Summer Bounty Salad with Saskatoon Cider Vinaigrette, don’t you think? If you’ve been reading JustineCelina since last summer you may remember the delicious, clean Wild Saskatoon Berry Crumble I came up with after a friend let us forage their farm to take advantage of the plentiful crop. It was saskatoon overload (in the best way possible!) so I took the opportunity to work on a few more saskatoon themed recipes — but because of my intensive testing process I wasn’t able to publish them before the season ended. Excited to bring those recipes to the blog this summer, we headed south in search of fleeting saskatoons and canola — and we ended up finding a beautiful field of canola (annual photos coming soon!) with wild saskatoon bushes growing alongside it. Honestly, what are the chances?!

My Summer Bounty Salad with Saskatoon Cider Vinaigrette is inspired by the abundant seasonal produce and herbs available at our local markets (and in the wild!) at the height of summer! This colourful, local, ultra fresh salad can be on your table in 15 minutes and is brimming with incredible, heart-healthy, antioxidant-rich superfoods and nutrients. Straight from our Alberta farms to your table, a vitamin-infused bed of baby spinach and arugula showcases a striking mosaic of freshly picked saskatoon berries, garden peas, shredded golden beets, crisp radishes, fresh mint, sunflower seeds and scallions — dressed with a punchy Saskatoon Cider Vinaigrette celebrating Alberta’s favorite berry. Enjoy this feel good salad as a light, plant based entrée whenever you’re in the mood for something quick and nutritious, or as a beautiful accompaniment to grilled fish (it’s great with with trout or salmon), meat or tofu!

DIGITAL BLOOMS AUGUST 2018 | FREE DESKTOP WALLPAPERS

Friends, I’m so excited to share August’s Free Tech Wallpapers with you today! Since the inception of DIGITAL BLOOMS nearly 2 and a half years ago, we’ve always incorporated your feedback into our design process — whether it be highly requested flowers, coloured backgrounds or more minimalistic designs, you asked and we delivered! One request that we’ve consistently received this year is to create more masculine or gender neutral designs — and because of the nature of flowers being inherently feminine, it we knew this one would be challenging. So, we have a bit of a curveball for you today! August’s free tech wallpapers feature a gorgeous neutral palette along with and a handful of edible produce and herbs — a first here in the JustineCelina DIGITAL BLOOMS library!

Inspired by the bounty of summer gardens, Rebecca Dawn Design and I teamed up to curate a lovely selection of Quicksand Roses, Purple Artichokes, Safari Sunset, Mini Green Artichokes, Rosemary, Hypericum and Feijoa in an fresh, earthy palette of new green, aubergine, blush and sage. JULY 2018 SOUNDTRACK

Another summer month has flown by, which means it’s time for a fresh Monthly Soundtrack! July was packed full of events, weekend trips to the prairies, mountains and farmer’s markets and lots of time spent enjoying this gorgeous weather with family and friends. And my July 2018 Soundtrack has been the background music to all of our summer adventures! This laid-back, feel good, easy going playlist features 3 hours of chill, electronic, ambient, instrumental, alternative, folk and bluegrass — a versatile collection of my favourite summer jams that you can throw on whether your road-tripping, enjoying the great outdoors or simply enjoying a quiet night in with a delicious glass of wine!

I discovered tons of new artists this month (as well as a new Spotify generated playlist called Boho + Chill!), but Wit Blu’s Burgundy, Richard Houghten’s Millions of Birds, WMD’s Coniferae, Joakim Karud’s Recover, Ruuth’s All About, Vacationeer’s Being Here, Illenium + Thoreau’s Where’d U Go, Milton Breech’s Painted Skies, steezy prime + ozone.’s Baths, Pink Skies Gettin’ Old, Shook’s Bicycle Ride, Chromak’s Sunshower, Cloudy Retro’s East End and Tep No’s Who We Are were a handful of my favourite tracks.
