NATURAL HABITAT

If you’re looking for some serenity on this Sunday afternoon you’ve come to the right place! Today’s post is a super relaxed one where I’m sharing my must-haves for natural, airy, summer style. These are the wardrobe staples I truly feel most comfortable in and like to throw on when I’m just chilling out! Whether I’m dressed up or dressed down I’ve always had a major soft spot for light, flowy fabrics and natural textures. I’ve been living in these breezy basics during my time in the prairies this summer — I know I can throw them on when comfort is a must, but so is looking cute and pulled together. I also chat about stepping up my casual shoe game and share my current favourite pair for weekend adventures! Take a break from the hustle of everyday life for a few minutes, pour yourself a cup of tea and come hang out amoung the fields of wheat and trickling streams near my childhood home in rural Alberta!

SUMMER SOLSTICE DINNER PARTY

Summer is officially here and I can’t think of a better reason to pick up a bottle of wine and invite your friends over for dinner! Tonight’s post is a fun and feminine tablescape I created with Rebecca Dawn Design to celebrate the dawn of summer.

Inspired by the merging seasons we’ve combined the blossoming branches of spring with summer’s colourful blooms, accented with aztec textiles, gold accents and of course some rosé — because I can’t be stopped! I’m also sharing my tips for pulling together an eclectic tablescape with budget friendly and thrifted decor, because I believe unique celebrations don’t have to come with an extravagant price tag. Come gather around my dining table and let’s chat summer entertaining!

ROSÉ LYCHEE ELDERFLOWER SANGRIA

It would be an understatement to say that I’ve been on a bit of a rosé kick lately. And if you know me at all, you’ll know I really love sangria. So this summer, I decided to create a refreshing rosé sangria with floral, fruity notes to unite my favourite beverages! My Rosé Lychee Elderflower Sangria is a flirty, feminine twist on traditional sangria where an effervescent, dry rosé takes center stage, complimented by flavours of lychee, elderflower, lemon, white peach and strawberry (with lots of bubbles!). These pretty wine cocktails are best enjoyed with friends — whether you’re dining al fresco, hosting a summer dinner party, attending a baby shower, or prepping drinks for girls night! Yes way, rosé!

NEWTRALS

Summer is in full swing here in Calgary and each season I look forward to updating my wardrobe with a few new pieces! Although I love colour, today’s post is inspired by some new, neutral items I’ve picked up recently that have been on heavy rotation. I’m highlighting my favourite new accessories in a neutral, versatile colour palette and chatting about how I incorporate new pieces into my wardrobe to update old favorites. I also chat pairing a statement lip with neutral outfits to punch them up and add a pop of colour (because you know I can’t get enough purple lips lately)! Stay tuned for summer style inspiration and my take on the seasons latest trends — including bucket bags, circle shades, tassels and cropped, frayed, distressed denim.

TROPICAL PINEAPPLE TURMERIC COOLER

Man, it’s been hot in Calgary lately (not that I’m complaining)! I’ve been craving lots of tropical fruit and fresh juice to help keep me cool and nourished, so today’s recipe is my latest fresh juice concoction! My Tropical Pineapple Turmeric Cooler is a blend of sweet pineapple, powerhouse carrot, hydrating watermelon, spicy ginger and healing turmeric, rounded out with a bright splash of lemon. I’ve been enjoying it lately post-morning workout, but it’s a versatile recipe that can be enjoyed anytime of the day or night when you need a fresh, sunny pick-me-up! The invigorating ingredient deck always gives me tons of energy to fuel the rest of my morning and it also aids in digestion. Whip up a batch in the A.M. for a tropical kick-start, or enjoy it with a little Caribbean rum on a hot summer night (go on, put some rum in your fresh juice — I’m not gonna judge you!). Cheers to a happy, healthy summer!

MAY BEAUTY FAVOURITES

Welcome back for another installment of my Monthly Beauty Favourites posts! Today I’m chatting summer beauty and sharing some of my favourite liquid lipsticks, lip liners, a new brow pencil, a gorgeous baked bronzer, a stunning ombre blush, and my all-time favourite eyeshadow to complete bronze and gold looks.

I placed a Colourpop order in May to test out some of their newer launches, so most of my favourites today are from Colourpop — one of my favourite affordable makeup brands. I also tried some products from the Lise Watier limited edition Summer 2016 Escale Collection and found a great bronzer for the summer!
