The leaves are turning, the air is crisp and fall is just around the corner — who’s ready to learn about autumn flowers? Many of you may not know this, but I had horrible skin in my early and mid 20’s (read more about my skin story). What’s even worse is how awful it made me feel. So, a few years ago I set out a quest to educate myself about skincare and finally found a routine that gives me happy, healthy skin. HOW TO STYLE | JUMPSUITS

It’s that magical time of year in Calgary. Flowers are still in bloom, the weather is mild and the leaves are just starting to yellow. I can’t complain about September’s temperatures so far (we enjoyed a glass of wine on the patio right after we shot this post), but there’s a definite crispness in the air and a few crunchy leaves at my feet. I personally love this time of year, especially for fashion. And while I’m not quite ready to embrace autumn’s knits, boots and scarves, I’ve been pairing my summer favourites with lighter layers and a more autumnal colour palette during this transitional month. Today’s post is another installment in my HOW TO STYLE series — where I’m chatting about how to style jumpsuits and culotte silhouettes. AUGUST BEAUTY FAVOURITES

If you’re a beauty lover looking for some reading material this long weekend, you’re in luck — it’s August Beauty Favourites time! August was a very experimental month for me beauty-wise because I purged and reorganized my entire makeup collection. Having been a beauty lover for many years before I started blogging I’ve accumulated quite the stash, which has grown exponentially this past year and a half since starting JustineCelina! I’m finding the need to reevaluate what I’m using and loving more often and also determining which products could find a better home. So, I packed up tons of goodies for friends and family and also donated some makeup to a local women’s shelter.

In my reorganizing, I set aside products that hadn’t seen much love recently and experimented with them in August — so I was a bit all over the place in terms of what I used each time I did my makeup. My August Beauty Favourites are a mixture of tried and true products in new colours, along with some brand new ones! Stay tuned for a beautiful, warm red liquid lipstick, a fantastic loose setting powder, some subtly colourful smoky eyeshadows, an inexpensive cream to powder highlighter and a heavenly scented dry shampoo from the drugstore!

DIGITAL BLOOMS SEPTEMBER 2016 | FREE TECH WALLPAPERS

Can you believe it’s already September 1st? It seems like summer is just flying by this year. Having said that, I’m looking forward to welcoming fall later this month! I’m also very excited to share autumn themed flower content in partnership with Rebecca Dawn Design with you over the coming months — seriously you guys, I can’t wait to publish it!

To kick off the first month of a new season, September’s DIGITAL BLOOMS incorporate some of late summer and early autumn’s prettiest flowers and foliage. Our 3 flower-based designs are inspired by the wild beauty of Indian summers and a palette of eggplant, terracotta, marsala, apricot, blush, cream and fresh greens. We’re also introducing to some brand new seasonal blooms into this series — including Stock, Eremurus, Dalihas, Astilbe, Chrysanthemums, Thlaspi and Cotinus. Rebecca and I have an educational post all about early autumn flowers hitting JustineCelina later this month, but for now you can enjoy them on the background of your computer, tablet or phone — absolutely free!

AUGUST SOUNDTRACK

My August Soundtrack is a 3 hour playlist full of good vibes and my favourite late summer tunes! I discovered so many new artists, as well as a few new songs from bands I’ve listened to for a long time (like RAC). A few standout tracks this month include Even by Gold Spectacles, Catch the Rider by The Dubarrys, A Minute or Two by Cider Sky, Choose You Twice by Ben Zaidi, Young, Naive & Reckless by Grace Wood, Closer by Halsey & The Chainsmokers, Box Wine by The Foxies and Method Acting by Work Drugs (a band I first heard last month). When I asked a few months ago what kind of content you’d like to see more of here at JustineCelina, I got a resounding request for more shoes! Well, ask and you shall receive, my friends — I’m thrilled that you love shoes just as much as I do! Today I’m chatting about my favourite shoes this summer and shopping end of season sales to find the best deals. I’m also sharing a few tips to transition summer shoes into autumn! Did you know fall doesn’t officially begin until September 22nd? That means there’s almost one full month of summer left! When the sun is shining in Calgary, I’m planning to embrace it and wear my summer shoes for as long as possible! I’m also sharing a fun and easy DIY pompom sandal that’s a great, inexpensive way to try the trend and customize it to suit your personal style.
