It’s March 1st and that means it’s time for another installment of DIGITAL BLOOMS, where I team up with my friend and ultra talented flower designer Rebecca Dawn Design each month to create 3 free desktop wallpapers! Except… plot twist — this month, there aren’t any flowers! March is going to be an incredibly exciting month here at JustineCelina for a few reasons — first, it’s my Blogiversary month (I hit publish on my very first post almost 2 years ago!), it’s the first month of spring (hallelujah!) and I have some amazing plans in the works (including travel — and you’re coming with me!). I think you may be able to tell from all the exclamation points in this paragraph just how thrilled I am to be able to share all of this with you!

March seems like the perfect time to celebrate Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2017, Greenery (are you sick of hearing me yammer on about Greenery yet?!), by incorporating this refreshing and revitalizing shade, symbolic of new beginnings, into March’s Digital Blooms. Pantone coined 2017’s it hue as ‘nature’s neutral’ and this month we’re showing it off with an array of exotic green foliage! While we may not see the first signs of spring’s natural greenery in Calgary this month, we can refresh our digital devices with this reviving, restoring and renewing hue. JANUARY 2017 BEAUTY FAVOURITES


Well hello, beautiful people! Today I’m sharing my January 2017 Beauty Favourites — and it’s been almost a month since my last beauty post! You may have read that I’ve been doing some major purging and reorganizing in preparation for the SPACE REFRESH I have planned this year. This also included a complete overhaul of my makeup collection! I spent a large part of January sorting, donating and making an effort to rediscover forgotten products while exploring the holiday gift sets I purchased back in December (I purchased most of them for gifting, but kept a few items for myself!). There are a lot of minis in today’s post!

This January, it was back to basics in the beauty department. I spent a lot of time planning for 2017 (including lots of exciting new beauty content that I can’t wait to share!) and working behind the scenes, so overall it was a pretty minimal month for me makeup wise and my favourites definitely reflect that. It’s also been insanely dry here in Calgary this winter (YYC gals, I know you feel me!), so I was drawn to lightweight, slightly hydrating and more natural products to help combat winter skin. I also had a chance to explore the mini fragrance kits I picked up December (I’ve been wearing a few new fragrances each week and it’s been so much fun!) so I have a couple of new fragrance favourites as well. NEW YEAR, NEW GOALS: CULTIVATING A BALANCED 2017

So we’re half way into the first month of a fresh new year — how’s everyone doing? Did you set new goals, intentions and resolutions for 2017, or are you not really into that whole thing? Each year, I take the beginning of January as an opportunity to reflect on the year prior and evaluate how I can continue to grow and better myself in the upcoming year (if you’ve been with me since last year, you may remember my New Year, New Goals: Planning for a Successful 2016 post). I truly embrace the inherent fresh start that a new year provides and while I make it a priority to check in with myself often, a major overhaul was needed this year! I think the start of a new year is just as good a time as any to reflect, evaluate and set fresh intentions.

Today I’m sharing 5 goals and plans I’ve created for myself with then intention of cultivating more balance in my life in 2017 (and beyond!), plus what I’ve already done to work towards them. I’m also sharing some of my favourite planning, scheduling and creative tools to help me maximize my time, get organized, grow creatively and stay inspired! CURRIED WINTER VEGETABLES WITH ROASTED ACORN SQUASH (+ MY 200th BLOG POST!)


Today’s recipe marks a milestone in my blogging career. Today I’ve published 200 blog posts. 200 blog posts?! It’s crazy to think I’ve been blogging for 1 year and 9 months (what?), but I guess that’s what 2 posts per week amounts to! It just so happens that my very first post was a recipe, as was my 100th blog post. So if you’re interested in taking a look through my archives, enjoy, but be warned — when I first started JustineCelina I took all my photos in square format on my iPhone!

Anyway, onto the real reason why you’re here today — the recipe! To be honest, I can’t believe this is the first curry recipe I’ve published. I make curries often, typically with whatever veggies and spices we have kicking around (you know how it goes around here!). In the winter especially, plant based curries are a staple in our kitchen — and my Curried Winter Vegetables with Roasted Acorn Squash is healthy comfort food at it’s finest! A medley of onions, garlic and ginger are caramelized, then accompanied by a flavourful trio of carrots, peppers and celery simmered in a decadent, tomato based curry sauce dancing with rich Indian spices and just the right amount of heat. Roasted Acorn Squash houses the Curried Winter Vegetables in a nourishing, edible bowl — a playful, hearty spin on typical bread-based options. This recipe yields a generous amount of curry that freezes well, so you can stock the freezer with healthy options to help fuel January’s resolutions when you’re running short on time!

AUTUMN ENERGIZER JUICE


You guys, these are some busy times. I’m definitely no stranger to hard work — but without a doubt, these last few months have been the busiest of our lives. And while I’m grateful for the work and opportunities, there’s really only so long you can burn the candle at both ends before things start to fall apart, health wise. After awhile, there’s a point when coffee and tea can no longer help me and what I really need is sleep. At times like these I find myself turning to fresh juice to give myself an extra immunity boost!

Despite my busy schedule, I pride myself on being a healthy person and taking the best care of myself that I can through diet and exercise. Thankfully, I rarely get sick. So when I woke up on Friday feeling run down with a little tickle in my throat, I knew I had to get handle on it! It’s Sunday and I feel much better now — but this past week I came up with a new fresh juice recipe that I wanted to share with you. My Autumn Energizer Juice combines traditional autumn produce with unconventional ingredients — resulting in sweet, creamy, energizing juice with a spicy, warming kick! Power through busy times with an offbeat fresh juice recipe that includes both sweet potato and cape gooseberries. It’s just what the doctor ordered!

I’m back with some beautiful, orchard-fresh Ambrosia apples, a new recipe and a grateful, renewed mindset! Happy belated Thanksgiving to my Canadian readers, I hope you all enjoyed a weekend full of family, friends, delicious food and a few good drinks. It’s been a week since my last post because I decided to take this weekend off from blogging. INDIAN SUMMER VEGAN CHILI


You may have noticed a bit of a theme here at JustineCelina this month — between our September Digital Blooms, my summer-meets-fall style content and our introduction to Autumn flowers I’ve been embracing the summer-to-fall transition in full force! This year, I’m definitely ready for the seasonal changes that September brings, not to mention the plethora of delicious foods that accompany it!
