Summer is in full swing here in Calgary and each season I look forward to updating my wardrobe with a few new pieces! Although I love colour, today’s post is inspired by some new, neutral items I’ve picked up recently that have been on heavy rotation. I’m highlighting my favourite new accessories in a neutral, versatile colour palette and chatting about how I incorporate new pieces into my wardrobe to update old favorites. I also chat pairing a statement lip with neutral outfits to punch them up and add a pop of colour (because you know I can’t get enough purple lips lately)! Welcome back for another installment of my Monthly Beauty Favourites posts! Today I’m chatting summer beauty and sharing some of my favourite liquid lipsticks, lip liners, a new brow pencil, a gorgeous baked bronzer, a stunning ombre blush, and my all-time favourite eyeshadow to complete bronze and gold looks.

I placed a Colourpop order in May to test out some of their newer launches, so most of my favourites today are from Colourpop — one of my favourite affordable makeup brands. RAINBOW CARROT AND YELLOW PEPPER SOUP

It was a cold, rainy spring Saturday in Calgary. I’d just had a beautiful, inspiring lunch at Shokunin the day prior with fellow food blogger Heather’s Eats. During lunch, my Maki roll came garnished with gorgeous edible petals and chef Darren stopped by to chat with us about his vision for the restaurant. Earlier that week I had tons of photoshoots involving flowers and the leftovers were scattered all over my living room in a beautiful mess. Rebecca and I had been chatting about ideas for edible flower posts, so that was dancing around in the back of my head. I had a whole bunch of carrots and yellow peppers that needed to be used up, and a can of coconut milk sitting half-full in the fridge. I was craving a comforting, pureed soup and realized I hadn’t made one since the fall! It seems that on dreary, grey days I crave the most colour — and I’ve been really into yellow in fashion this spring.

All these things inspired this fresh, nourishing and colourful spring soup recipe! The best part? You only need 10 ingredients (including seasonings) to make my Rainbow Carrot & Yellow Pepper Soup!

Today’s post is all about shoes! I really love shoes — I’m a bit of a shoeaholic and always have been! If you’re reading this, you probably love shoes too. WINTER BOHO + HOW TO SHOP FOR GREAT VINTAGE

Lately, I’ve been reviewing my photo archives and lusting after the more carefree, bohemian styles of summer and autumn. My very first fashion post for JustineCelina is still one of my favourites! So today I’m chatting about wearing bohemian styles in cooler temperatures. You’ll find me pretty much living in maxi dresses in the summer, so I wanted to show you can style them for winter, too. In Calgary the weather is right around the 10° mark and things are starting to thaw out (see that hint of green on the ground?!) — so wardrobe options begin to open up. It’s nice not having to be totally bundled all the time, and start experimenting with layering again! I really love a good faux fur vest, and one of my favourite ways to wear them in the late winter and early fall is to pair them up with maxi dresses. I also give you a simple braided hairstyle idea, and my tips on how to shop for great vintage!
