GLUTEN FREE MAPLED PUMPKIN CHAI BREAD

Foodie friends, who’s up for some healthier, pre-holiday baking? I’m thrilled to finally share my Gluten Free Mapled Pumpkin Chai Bread with you today after just over a year of recipe development! I’ve mentioned previously that due to my extensive recipe testing and development process and focus on seasonal ingredients, oftentimes recipes take over a year to make it to JustineCelina. As with any piece of content I share on this pages, quality is my top priority! Over the course of the five times (yes, really!) I’ve baked, tweaked and meticulously tested this delicious seasonal loaf, it’s become one of our all-time-favourite recipes — and I hope you enjoy it just as much as I’ve enjoyed creating it for you. I’ve also included a handful of my favourite local grocers and vendors where I picked up all of the ingredients I’ve used in this recipe. Now more than ever, local businesses need our support and I’d like to ask you to consider how you can support your local economy (in whatever capacity you’re able to) as we transition into the holiday season.

My Gluten Free Mapled Pumpkin Chai Bread typifies late autumn by combining two of my favourite seasonal flavour profiles in one deceptively decadent, easy-to-bake loaf that’s free of dairy, gluten, refined sugar and oil. Exceptionally moist and perfectly spiced, this simple, seasonal pumpkin bread tastes like an indulgent fall cake, but is loaded with nourishing ingredients and warm, healing spices! Pumpkin puree, creamy coconut milk, pure Canadian maple syrup and a splash of Mexican vanilla extract are beautifully complimented by a rich melange of quintessential chai spices — including cinnamon, ginger, cloves, allspice, cardamon and anise. The result is an incredibly delicious ‘free from’ pumpkin loaf to be enjoyed by plant based eaters, those with food allergies and sensitivities and anyone that loves delicious seasonal baking! Consider adding my festive Gluten Free Mapled Pumpkin Chai Bread to your holiday baking menu this season for an inventive, better-for-you spin on classic seasonal flavours that the whole family can enjoy. Throw on your coziest sweater and your fuzziest slippers and let’s bake up some chai-inspired seasonal goodness, shall we?

NOVEMBER 2O2O SOUNDTRACK

In need of some relaxing tunes for your next cozy evening in? Well friends, I have just the playlist! Indulge your ears in my November 2020 Soundtrack — featuring 3 hours of easy listening, ultra chill, electronic, jazzy, ambient, indie and alternative grooves to perfectly compliment a bottle of Pinot Noir in front of the fireplace. This familiar scene from our Living Room is what almost every single weekend evening has looked like since March — and although I do miss a lot of things about our life pre-COVID, I’m so grateful for this little piece of serenity amidst a chaotic world. I’ve come to treasure our quarantine Friday evenings when we put the fire on, open a bottle of wine and get lost in the world of music! MUSIC has always been an integral part of my life — and I hope my MONTHLY SOUNTRACKS bring you a bit of extra peace and joy to help ease these difficult times. These 56 tracks have been my musical therapy through a tumultuous month!

November’s standout tracks include Downtown Owl’s Okay, Made in M’s Wonderloop, Ganzo’s Happy Feet, TABAL’s Floating Hammock, Psalm Tree’s Lisbon Penthouse,  Norabel’s Pigments, Noé Solange’s Nocturnal Lady, Blue Wednesday’s Seafoam, Macleny’s Doors of Time, Satin Jacket’s rendition of Tycho’s Japan, Sofasound’s Life Is So Beautiful, C4C’s Flower Pillow, West & Zander’s Autumn Haze, Ash Walker’s remix of Kennebec’s Departure, Toby Schay’s moonkiss and Daithi’s How to Fall in Love in a Pandemic. Thanks for listening, friends!

FALL 2020 LOOKBOOK

Fall fashion lovers, I’m thrilled to welcome you back for another seasonally inspired LOOKBOOK! Since publishing my Early Autumn 2020 Lookbook, there have been a few notable developments here in Calgary in regards to new public health measures to combat the second wave of COVID-19 we’re currently experiencing. I’ve been fairly quiet here at JustineCelina as we navigated what Alberta’s new restrictions look like for us and our businesses ahead of the holiday season. In light of these recent announcements, we decided against shooting the final three winter looks I had planned for this LOOKBOOK outdoors. As social gatherings of any kind are prohibited both in our homes as well as outdoors, it simply doesn’t feel like the right time to do so. As I’ve mentioned previously, these restrictions are something I take very seriously. These LOOKBOOKS showcase what I’m authentically wearing each season — and getting dressed up with quite literally no where to go simply didn’t resonate with me. Since we’re all staying in these days, I knew it wouldn’t resonate with you either!

That said, I didn’t want that to stop me from from serving up one final dose of late fall fashion here at JustineCelina this season while we’re all cozied up at home! Alas, the fall looks we captured earlier this autumn were collecting dust on my hard drive and I wanted to bring them to life, even if this LOOKBOOK doesn’t follow my typical 6 outfit format. But hey — 2020 is anything but typical, right?! My Fall 2020 Lookbook features 3 creative, free spirited, trend focused fall 2020 outfits built on foundational, quality wardrobe staples. As always, you can expect a melange of high, low, old, new and vintage — as well as shoppable links at every price point. If you’re looking for a sartorial escape during lockdown, join me this evening for  inventive layering tips to get the most of your wardrobe as we transition into winter, my process for pulling together elegant cool weather looks and a chat about how my personal style (and shopping habits) have changed as a result of the pandemic. Pour yourself a juicy glass of pinot noir and settle in for a fleeting dose of late autumn fashion on the Alberta prairies — complete with both rural and urban style inspiration and additional face mask recommendations!

MY TOP 5 PUMPKIN SPICE LIPSTICKS

Fall is my favourite time of year for many reasons — but something I look forward to each year is pulling out all my favourite warm, cozy lip colours (and trying a few new ones!) to mark the change in seasons. Last autumn as I was organizing my vanity for the season, I noticed a major theme — all of my most-worn autumn lip colours had a very similar, pumpkin spice inspired colour story (yes, I actually began working on My Top 5 Pumpkin Spice Lipsticks post last fall!). Although I may be the only woman on the planet who isn’t into Pumpkin Spice Lattes (shocking, I know!), I can definitely appreciate the inspiration behind this quintessentially autumnal beverage. So naturally, I thought this concept would make a fantastic addition to my seasonal BEAUTY content here at JustineCelina! I absolutely love to embrace each season as fully as possible — whether it be in my personal style, beauty routine, home or what I choose to nourish my body with. While a lot has changed in 2020, my love of fall beauty remains — and although I’m not wearing as much makeup as I did pre-pandemic (or getting glammed up nearly as often), I still love to treat myself to a beautiful, seasonal makeup application for an instant confidence boost. I hope I can inspire you to do the same, as my makeup routine has remained one of my most cherished forms of self care over the years!

Today I’m thrilled to share My Top 5 Pumpkin Spice Lipsticks featuring my top shelf autumn lip products ranging in formula across price points — from long wearing (and mask-friendly) liquid lipsticks to nourishing natural products, to elegant hybrid formulas! If you’ve been browsing my recent STYLE content and wanting to learn more about what’s on my lips (I’ve been dropping major hints this post was coming!), you’ll find all the information you’re looking for in today’s post. As always, this dedicated review post in my recently introduced MY TOP 5 series is brimming with try-on photos, swatches and application tips — plus my top lip liner recommendations to pair with each shade to create a full, defined pout! If you’re ready to spice up your lipstick wardrobe for cooler months ahead, you’ve come to the right place — throw on your coziest sweater and curl up in your favourite reading nook with a seasonal beverage for a serious dose of inclusive, autumnal beauty inspiration. I also share my complete camera-ready fall beauty routine (sprinkled with tons of shoppable links) when I’m craving a dose of glamour!

OCTOBER 2O2O SOUNDTRACK

Happy Halloween, beautiful people! I’m back on this gorgeous, sunny autumn afternoon with my October 2020 Soundtrack — a soothing, 60 track, fall playlist brimming with instrumental, jazzy undertones. This month, in addition to my usual melange of cross category listening, I gravitated towards blissed out jazz — which seems to be a common theme year after year as we transition into cooler weather. Despite an unseasonably warm early October, we experienced our first snowfall of the season mid-month and enjoyed many a cozy evening infront of the fireplace with Spotify’s Jazz Vibes playlist streaming through the speakers. Of course, I added all my favourite tracks to October’s MONTHLY SOUNTRACK for your listening pleasure — and I’m elated to share over 3 hours of them with you today!

This month’s standout tracks include Kasbo’s Show You, Handbook’s In Subtle Bloom, Teen Daze’s Environments, Attom’s Lagoon, Lincoln Jesser’s Boba, DRAMA’s 7:04 AM, Hilo’s Don’t Go, David Cutter Music’s Float Away, Teeb’s Universe, Clubhouse’s Haunt You, Clear Blue Skies Golden, Nic Leng’s Music To Clean The House To, Antione Dufour’s beautifully stripped down rendition of Coldplay’s Talk, Bogdan Belyeav’s Wisdom 1:11, Mark Kroos’s Be Still & Know, Mesita’s I’m Considering Quitting Music, DROELOE’S Roadside Flowers, Grooveshine’s Pages, ford.’s Fruit&Sun, Sol Rising’s Surfin’, Brenky’s Otonbu, Shoffy’s You, filous’s Trying Not To Think About You, Petit Biscuit’s Midnight Sky, Nicolas Kluzek’s Blue as an Orange, Handbook’s Temporary, Board-Man’s guitar laden, instrumental rendition of Isn’t She Lovely and DEEB’s Golden Hour. Wishing you all a fun and safe Hallo-weekend, whatever you’re up to!

TRANSITIONAL SUMMER MEETS AUTUMN DECOR

Interior design lovers, I’m thrilled to welcome you back into our sun drenched Living Room for my first dedicated DWELL post of the year! So what exactly have I been up to around here? Well, to be completely transparent, all the brand partnerships I had lined up for our SPACE REFRESH series this year were postponed (some indefinitely) due to COVID. I had so many plans for our remaining rooms, along with updates to spaces you’ve already seen, but due to the current situation, they simply haven’t been possible. Instead, I’ve been focusing on making small tweaks and seasonal updates to already finished spaces so that we can fully enjoy them with all the extra time we’ve spent at home! I’m allowing things to come together naturally, ideas to ebb and flow organically and working away on our home when I feel inspired to do so — because if this pandemic has taught me anything, it’s that life doesn’t always go according to plan. Lately I’ve been cozying things up for autumn, picking up a few new key pieces and restyling items we already own in new ways, so I thought it was about time I share our Transitional Summer Meets Autumn Decor with you here at JustineCelina, if you’re doing the same and looking for inspiration!

This year we’ve opted to keep things lighter and brighter as we transition into a new season — and it feels like a perfect blend of summer and fall. It’s the magical time of year where we can enjoy the best of both summer and autumn out in nature, in our homes, on our plates and in our wardrobes — and I’m fully embracing it! Despite the pandemic’s challenges, we’ve experienced the warmest autumn I can remember — and I’ve definitely channeled that inspiration into our home this season. I love to experiment with juxtaposition in my personal style and in my home — I’m all about mixing high with low, old with new and modern with traditional. Each year, my inspiration hits an all time high as summer blends into autumn and I explore new ways to translate this seasonal shift into our inner city Calgary apartment! Fall decor doesn’t have to be expensive, overwhelming or impractical — and today I’ve rounded up all my best transitional decorating tips and favourite sources for affordable, quality pieces to refresh your space. If you’re a fellow apartment dweller, working with a small space (or a modest budget!), you’ve come to the right place — pour yourself a glass of crisp rosé and curl up on the sofa as I share our Transitional Summer Meets Autumn Decor

EARLY AUTUMN 2020 LOOKBOOK + COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

Friends and fashionistas, I’m thrilled to bring some structure and familiarity back to my STYLE content today with this 6 outfit, Early Autumn 2020 Lookbook — my first since April! While 2020 has thrown all semblance of order and routine for a loop, one thing that remains is my love of fall fashion. Each autumn I go into content creation overdrive creating and capturing things that inspire me! And despite life looking quite a bit different than it did this time last year, I was determined to not let COVID put a damper on my personal style. Regardless of the pandemic, dressing up and dressing well allows me to present the best, most confident and truest version of myself to the world — and I simply refused to let my stilettos collect dust for another season! Those of you who’ve been with me for awhile here at JustineCelina will know I theme my content seasonally, as I’m always looking to nature for inspiration — taking cues from the changing landscape to inform both my creative work and my personal style. It felt incredible  to reignite my passion for pulling together looks, capturing them beautiful settings and curating them into one my signature, seasonal LOOKBOOKS

This year we’ve been fortunate to enjoy the warmest fall I can remember — and we shot more seasonal style content than ever before against the backdrop of our beautiful Alberta landscape. We also captured images in both country and city locations (complete with an introduction to my top face mask recommendations and accompanying Community Guidelines), so my Early Autumn 2020 Lookbook features sartorial inspiration for variety of settings! That said, no matter the setting, my wardrobe has become more casual, comfortable and practical than ever this year — and it’s a very welcome shift. The majority of the pieces I’ve added to my wardrobe in 2020 are ultra versatile to suit a variety of occasions — whether I’m working from home, enjoying a quiet evening in or heading out for a (very rare) occasional celebration. Today I’m elated to share my go-to styling tips for extending your summer wardrobe into autumn, innovative layering techniques, favourite retailers, cozy seasonal staple pieces and wearable trends incorporated into 6 relaxed, bohemian inspired looks suitable for a variety of climates. Join me for a healthy dose of seasonal style inspiration (plus some incredible sales!) celebrating early autumn on the Alberta prairies — the most beautiful time of the year!
