WINTER BOHO + HOW TO SHOP FOR GREAT VINTAGE

Lately, I’ve been reviewing my photo archives and lusting after the more carefree, bohemian styles of summer and autumn. My very first fashion post for JustineCelina is still one of my favourites! So today I’m chatting about wearing bohemian styles in cooler temperatures. You’ll find me pretty much living in maxi dresses in the summer, so I wanted to show you can style them for winter, too. In Calgary the weather is right around the 10° mark and things are starting to thaw out (see that hint of green on the ground?!) — so wardrobe options begin to open up. It’s nice not having to be totally bundled all the time, and start experimenting with layering again! I really love a good faux fur vest, and one of my favourite ways to wear them in the late winter and early fall is to pair them up with maxi dresses. I also give you a simple braided hairstyle idea, and my tips on how to shop for great vintage!

COZY IN CAMEL | MY FAVOURITE TRANSITIONAL PIECES

I always find that February is a difficult month, fashion-wise! It’s not the dead of winter anymore, but it’s also definitely not spring. Here in Calgary the weather has been pretty mild, but there’s still snow on the ground (and let’s be real — it could still snow anytime!). At this time of year I get sick of wearing pants and crave the more feminine silhouettes of spring — dresses and skirts! I find myself reaching for a lot of neutral tones, but punching my look up with bold accessories and statement lips (especially since I’ve been so obsessed with pink, but am picky about wearing it!). I’ve mentioned before that the core of my wardrobe consists of pieces that I can wear for both work and play — this outfit is an example of something I’d wear if I was hanging out with friends, or headed to a business meeting. Today I’m sharing my favourite transitional pieces from winter-to-spring in Alberta!

JANUARY BEAUTY FAVOURITES

There’s nothing like going through your whole makeup stash for a yearly beauty favourites post to discover some new favourites and inspire you! In January I was all over the map in terms of the colours I wore, and it was a very experimental month for me, makeup wise. Since I come from an artistic background (if you didn’t know, I went to art college), I approach my makeup like I would a painting or drawing — I’m just painting and drawing on my face! I’ve always loved beauty so much because it’s a way for me to combine my passions. Like fashion, it’s a form of self-expression for me. I was the little girl who was always playing around in my Mom’s makeup, and giving friends makeovers during my adolescence! My January 2016 Beauty Favourites are full of rich, warm shades, violets and rosy hues. I also discovered a very natural-looking, gradual self tanner that gives you a the perfect amount of colour for winter!

Who else is sick of winter?! I know I’ve definitely been craving some colour in my life lately! So this week, I’ve teamed up with Litehouse Foods and The Food Bloggers of Canada to bring you a fresh, colourful entrée salad recipe that can be on your table is less than half an hour! My Pomegranate Hibiscus Salmon Salad combines mixed greens and peppery arugula with strawberries, yellow peppers, mandarin oranges, dried cranberries, almonds and red onions — topped with a fresh fillet of wild sockeye salmon. It’s created with Litehouses’s Pomegranate Hibiscus Dressing, from their new Green Garden line. HOW TO STYLE | WINTER PASTELS

I’m totally obsessed with winter pastels! I’ve been going lighter, brighter and fresher in my wardrobe and personal style this winter — did you notice JustineCelina‘s mini makeover? My love for all things pastel was solidified by the Pantone 2016 Colour of the Year Announcement (check out my inspiration post for some colour trend eye candy), so today I’m sharing a pastel-themed fashion post with you! BEST IN BEAUTY | DECEMBER 2015

December was a blur! Between preparing for holidays and then holidays themselves, December always seems to fly by so fast. Last month I traveled all over Alberta visiting family and friends, and definitely noticed myself reaching for the same products consistently. It was pretty simple for me to choose my December beauty favourites — I just had to look inside my travel makeup bag!

Last month I discovered a genius product that lightens foundation to suit winter skintones, my to-go holiday lip, a blush that gives you that ‘just in from the cold’ look, some really unique eyeshadows and long-wearing, affordable eyeliners! Curl up, get cozy and let’s chat about winter beauty!
