THE ACCESSORY EDIT | NATURAL MATERIAL BAGS

If you’ve been following along with my FASHION section (or Instagram feed) this summer, you may have seen this post coming! Over the past few years, I’ve accumulated quite the collection of natural material bags — we’re talking everything from raffia, to wood, to jute, to straw. In fact, I’ve fallen so in love with them that I was inspired to start a brand new series here at JustineCelina called THE ACCESSORY EDIT, where I dedicate an entire post to a standout accessory (or possibly accessories!) of the moment and how to style them, along with my best shopping tips, killer sale alerts and tons of shoppable links at every price point. The first post in this series is an ode to my love of natural material bags of all shapes, sizes, colours and ages!

Natural material bags are something I’ve worn since long before they were particularly on trend — in fact, I’ve owned some of my vintage straw bags for nearly a decade! I love organic looking, natural details and textures both in my wardrobe and in my home. Last summer, I decided to finally pull the trigger on the iconic Cult Gaia Large Ark Bamboo Handbag (a birthday splurge!) and it reignited my love for natural materials bags! Over the past year, natural material bags have been spotted everywhere — on the arms of your favourite bloggers, celebrities and fashionistas alike. Today I’m sharing my entire collection of natural material bags (that’s 19!) with you, along with all the different ways I’ve worn them, plus how I plan to style them up into AW18. TRANSITIONAL SHOE GUIDE | SUMMER TO AUTUMN 2018

Shoe lovers, I’m elated to bring you the first 2018 installment of my SHOE GUIDE series! It’s been a little while since my last blog post — I took a step back to brainstorm, get re-inspired and shoot tons of new style content (you may have seen it trickling onto Instagram over the past few weeks!). Moving forward, I’ll be bringing multiple outfits to my FASHION posts where possible to give you lots of styling options, variety and inspiration for both personal and professional settings! SUMMER 2018 TREND GUIDE | FLOWER POWER

Friends and fashionistas, welcome back for my first TREND GUIDE of Summer 2018! This season, I’ve resolved to have as much fun as possible (with FASHION and otherwise!) and that mindset is definitely reflected in this look. I actually picked up most of this outfit during a last minute shopping spree in preparation for my Exploring Calgary’s Colourful East Village Junction article with Tourism Calgary! I had spotted this dress in the window at H&M a couple of weeks prior and couldn’t get it out of my head, plus I knew it would be perfect for the setting! These fun (and super comfortable!) Topshop espadrilles also caught my eye that day, as did this jubilant circular bag from Zara. As someone who’s typically a very calculated, mostly online shopper, it was a refreshing change of pace to let my impulses take over! This colourful, fun, free spirited outfit is the result — and one I’ve worn several times this season. Every time I do, I receive tons of compliments and questions — so naturally I thought it would be the perfect look to kick off my Summer 2018 TREND GUIDES!

Today we’re chatting about a handful of this summer’s hottest trends — including bold florals, rainbow brights, espadrilles, red, woven circular bags, shell details, tassels, pompoms, statement earrings and stained lips (because sometimes, more is more!). While I wouldn’t typically wear these statement items together, this summer, I’m all about switching things up and getting out of my comfort zone. But some things never change! I’ll always be a fan of breezy, statement summer dresses that almost style themselves — you know, the ones that you can just throw on and look fabulous, no matter the occasion? Today I’m sharing a selection of my favourite, flowy floral dresses with you, along with versatile styling tips to ensure maximum wear — whether you pick up something new or are looking for fresh ideas to rework your existing summer wardrobe!

COLOUR CRUSH | RED

Do you have a power colour? I’m beginning to think mine is red. Oddly enough, it’s not a hue I’ve worn often over the past 4ish years since rocking my natural hair colour. Back in my (much) younger, platinum blonde days (yes, really — in fact, I’ve had almost every single hair colour except jet black!) red was one of my favourite colours to wear! This year, I’ve been increasingly drawn to red and have incorporated more of this statement shade into my personal style. Fast forward to SS18 and red is everywhere — a classic colour that demands attention, instills confidence and couldn’t be more suited to our scorching summer climate. I’ve always believed that red lips give you superpowers, so just imagine what wearing red-to-toe (ie: wearing red, head to toe) can do for you!

Today’s post is a fresh installment in my COLOUR CRUSH series and my take on a summery, red-to-toe look — along with a crash course on colour theory to help you find your perfect shade of red and master on-trend, monochromatic dressing. The best part? Once you’ve learned the basics, you can apply these tips to any colour or shade if red isn’t your thing! No matter what colour you chose, monochromatic looks are always slimming and sophisticated — and although this bold look was a bit outside of my comfort zone, I’m so glad I went for it! JUNE 2018 SOUNDTRACK

Happy Canada Day long weekend, friends! What’s everyone up to? We’re enjoying some time with my family in the country — enjoy the tranquility of the prairies and doing some cocktail testing (get ready for a refreshing summer recipe coming your way later this month!). Whatever your Canada Long Weekend holds, I have the ultimate soundtrack for you! My June 2018 Soundtrack includes over 3 hours of easy listening grooves spanning genres — with a healthy dose of folky, bluegrass inspired vibes thrown in for good measure. I recently discovered Spotify’s Stay Wild playlist and it decorated the majority of this past week while I worked away on the second installment of my What to Wear to | The Calgary Stampede post — hence the uptick of tasteful twang at the tail end of this playlist!

MY 3RD BLOGIVERSARY + 10 THINGS I LEARNED IN MY THIRD YEAR OF BLOGGING

Friends, welcome back for my annual (and very belated!) Blogiversary celebration! My 3rd Blogiversary went roaring by on March 2nd — but to be honest, I was completely engrossed in our Living Room Reveal and some other fun, last minute projects at the time. Earlier this year I chatted about changing things up around here and creating space to let life happen — and that’s exactly what I’ve done! There’s been a lot happening here at JustineCelina lately as we get ready to reveal the next rooms in our SPACE REFRESH series (coming your way later this month!) and I simply had to prioritize my time differently to make this all possible. March was one of my most creatively fulfilling months of my life — it left me completely exhausted but also incredibly inspired! In the two months since My 3rd Blogiversary I’ve reached some milestones I’ve dreamed of achieving since launching JustineCelina and they’ve reminded me exactly why I started this whole thing in the first place. So, although it’s a bit late and I’ve been chipping away at this post when I can, I couldn’t be more thrilled to share this Pantone Spring 2018 inspired 3rd Blogiversary soirée with you!

In the midst of it all, I came up with the concept for this celebratory post pretty last minute — about 10 days before the shoot (which, admittedly, was about 2 months ago!). It was so spontaneous, but serendipitous and things just fell into place (I shot it myself one sunny Friday afternoon with my tripod and self timer). This year, we’re going all out — because after 323 blog posts, almost a million views (OMG!), 180 000 images, 2 900 comments and a whole lot of blood, sweat and tears (quite literally), I truly never thought I’d get here! My third year was one of intense growth, both on these pages and off of them — I hope you enjoy reading about 10 Things I Learned in my Third Year of Blogging in this raw, honest, unabashed post (you may need a sparkling glass of rosé to get though it!). Whether you’re new to JustineCelina (and there are a lot of you beautiful people — welcome!) or have been with me since the very beginning, I’m so grateful to have you here celebrating with me today!

OUR LIVING ROOM FURNITURE

Welcome back, interior design lovers — I have a very exciting post for you today! Since publishing our Living Room Reveal (and having it featured and shared across the internet — eee!) I’ve received many questions about our furniture, where we purchased it and how we chose each piece — and I’ve been quietly planning this post behind the scenes!
