Don’t you just love limited edition holiday beauty releases? It’s that magical time of year when brands really seem to step up their game and create so many exclusive products, and value-packed offerings. If you’ve been with me for awhile, you’ll know that I really love Bite Beauty — a Canadian lip-exclusive brand who’s products are made with natural, food grade ingredients that are actually good for your lips. I’ve mentioned previously that Bite’s Luminous Crème Lipsticks are my all time favourite lipsticks — every year I love to pick up these mini duos. They last me until the next year! PANTONE 2016 COLOURS OF THE YEAR INSPIRATION | ROSE QUARTZ & SERENITY

Last week, Pantone announced their colours of the year — they chose two colours for the first time in history! The official Colours of the Year for 2016 are Rose Quartz (a soft pastel pink), and Serenity (a periwinkle pastel blue). Today’s post is an introduction to these shades, including ideas on how to incorporate these colour trends into your personal style for the holidays, as well as inspiration for home decor, fashion and beauty.

I’ve followed Pantone for colour inspiration my entire career — they’re the global colour authority for creative industries. They provide a colour system that ensures colour translates accurately across all mediums, whether it be in fashion, beauty, print, or in design. Pantone also predicts colour trends, so I like to keep up with what they’re forecasting to stay ahead of the curve!

WHAT TO WEAR TO | HOLIDAY PARTIES

‘Tis the season! Tonight’s post is another installment in my WHAT TO WEAR series (thanks, Michelle for the request) — I’ve compiled a very comprehensive guide on what to wear to various holiday parties. I’ve included outfit options for every type of party you may be attending — whether it be a corporate gala or black tie event, cocktail party, or a New Years Eve celebration! And now is a great time to shop (it’s when I personally do my holiday shopping), since a lot of retailers are offering Cyber Week and Black Friday promotions. I’ll have more details on that in this post!

Let’s face it — holiday parties are not what they used to be, at least not in Calgary. Five years ago I was dressed to the nines at multiple, extravagant celebrations, while this year neither my boyfriend or I are attending corporate holiday parties. Companies just don’t have the extra cash right now to shell out on these types of events. But rather than focusing on the negative, I put a budget friendly spin on my picks — each piece of clothing is under $200, and most accessories under $100 (with a lot of jewellery $20 or less)!

FAUX FUR + DISTRESSED DENIM

My personal style is pretty eclectic. I’m all about mixing it up! I get bored easily, and I like to wear a lot of different styles — that applies to both fashion and beauty. I’ve always been a bit of a chameleon, and I totally channel that into my look! I dress according to my mood, and have a lot of versatile piece in my closet that allow me to keep things fresh without having to buy a new wardrobe each season. I also like to mix high and low, old and new, and sophisticated with casual. That’s what today’s look is all about — I’m wearing plaid with patent, fringe with faux fur, and berry lips with boyfriend jeans! I think fashion should be fun, and I love combining different styles in unexpected ways.

COMFORT ZONE

Sometimes you just want to be really comfortable, am I right?! While I absolutely love dressing up, there are many occasions when I still want to look put together, but be comfortable and cozy (like a casual Thanksgiving dinner, for example — when I wore this exact outfit!). Today I’m chatting about my favourite comfortable, elevated basics for autumn. I love to add lots of texture and interest to my outfits with light layers and versatile accessories — my favourite pieces are made from soft, comfortable fabric, and their unique details make them more interesting than your basic leggings and oversized tee. Curl up with a big latte and let’s chat about laid-back fall style!

I swear that every year, limited edition holiday beauty sets start hitting the market earlier and earlier! Today I’m reviewing the Bite Beauty Best Bite Rewind Set, which is limited edition for Holiday 2015.
