My friend Elise served these delicious margaritas at our last girl dinner, and we all agreed they were the best homemade margaritas we’d ever tasted! I’ve dabbled in making cocktails with freshly pressed juice, but it usually goes a little something like “Hey, I bet this juice would taste good with vodka in it!”. I’m picky when it comes to tequila-based cocktails, but these margaritas are citrusy, savory and a bit spicy — it tastes like you’re drinking the most delicious green juice, and I couldn’t even taste the tequila! Plus, I like that this recipe is full of good ingredients (even some vegetables!). If you’re looking for a refreshing summer cocktail with a twist, you’ll love Elise’s Green Jalapeño Margaritas. Cheers, amigos!

Getting out of the city on the weekend, even just for the day, always refreshes and re-energizes me! This summer I’m learning that I don’t have to travel far to satisfy my wanderlust, and that there are so many amazing things to see and do right in my own province. On August long weekend we headed to Lake Louise for the day and hiked to the Lake Agnes Tea House — it’s a moderate hike with beautiful views that takes about 3 hours round-trip. At the top of the trail there’s a lovely tea house perched on Lake Agnes (and very friendly chipmunks!). Here’s a collection of my favourite images.
TOASTED TRAIL MIX
Last weekend we were getting ready to go for a hike at Lake Louise and I decided (last minute, of course!) to make some trail mix for the road. It turned out to be really delicious (even the chipmunks liked it!), so today I’m sharing the recipe with you. My Toasted Trail Mix is more like a mixture of trail mix and granola — it’s full of awesome, nourishing, all-natural ingredients, and brimming with antioxidants to help fuel your day. It gets nice and toasty in the oven, and the toasted flavour is complimented by a bit of maple syrup, cinnamon, and a dash of cayenne powder for that little bit extra! I also like to enjoy this trail mix on top fruit parfaits and smoothie bowls to kick my breakfast up a notch — it’s a versatile recipe that I love having in my kitchen.
BEST IN BEAUTY | JULY 2015
July was the month of lip products! I wore lots of different lip colours last month and generally kept things light on the eyes — one of my favourite summer looks is a bright lip with a simple eye and winger liner. Most of my favourite products last month were things that I’ve loved for a long time and rediscovered, or products I’ve rotated in for the summer because they contain SPF (try to get your SPF in wherever you can, ladies!).
I also stumbled on a couple of new products — one extremely beautiful highlighter, and a limited edition edition lipstick exclusively for Canadians that smells and tastes like Maple syrup! Cozy up with me on this stormy night in Calgary and let’s chat beauty!
What better thing to do on my first Saturday at home in over a month than curl up with a big cup of tea and shop in my yoga pants?! Today’s post is another installment in my OBSESSION series; highlighting a print, colour or texture of the moment, and showing you how to work it into your personal style — whether it be in the form of fashion, beauty, or in the home. This summer, I’ve been obsessed with all things fringe, so I’ve rounded up 7 of my favourite fringe pieces for an effortless, bohemian vibe. I’ve also selected a couple items from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale that you can pick up at a major discount before August 3rd!
Sangria has been my summer beverage of choice for as long as I can remember, so over the years my friends and I have perfected the recipe! Our White Citrus Sangria is a crisp and refreshing white wine-based drink that’s perfect for summer parties, backyard barbeques, or even camping. This sangria is really easy to drink (maybe a little too easy!) and people who don’t drink wine usually like it, too. It’s a crowd-pleasing recipe that’s fun to make with friends, so next time you’re entertaining, try it out — it always gets the party started!
I’m very excited to share a soft and pretty boudoir shoot I styled in collaboration with Gabe McClintock; a brilliant, award-winning photographer based in Calgary. It’s also been featured by Junebug Weddings and The Calgary Bride — what an honour!
I’d worked with Gabe previously on a few styled shoots, so when he came to me with a different idea for a boudoir shoot, I was so excited to partner with him and help bring his vision to life! Together, we created images that were ethereal, feminine and raw — something unique and fresh in the boudoir category. I curated a wardrobe of vintage lingerie in soft, winter-inspired pastel hues with romantic lace accents and whimsical details.
